  U Class and Gordo

How about we just get rid of Gordo and U class planets all together. Those with gordo planets would exchange them for clusters of equal size and all U class planets can be deactivated. Than we can go back to old school type warfare and and it would be allot simpler than messing around with code or altering the game drastically.

Undoubtedly asmo, and yeah BW I may have been being sarcastic. Our glorious founder just doesn`t seem the type to comment his code.

He probably forgot it all anyway and looking at the code now, he would probably know less about it that BW does..

Considering how old the code is, even if it had comments, it would be like stephen gibberish. You wold need 3 stepehens to translate it.

Well on the notes of comments.. There`s basically no comments on anything EnderWiggin

But surely the code is properly commented and organized? No? Yeah, I don`t envy the person (BW) who has to try to make sense of a well-organized project this large and network focused, much less whatever tangled monstrosity this actually is.

well lol over the past few days things that seem and should be easy have proved other wise like all the things with VM that were discussed BW has encounted coding logic so far from what any regular person would use that it causes BW some major headaches figuratively and some literal.

but for something like that yeah i`m not going to say it`s not possible or that it won`t be done, but we`re still all together unsure about what do do with planets as a whole, we have ideas but nothing definite, one thing we will address is the fact that virals and collectives both cannot use agri on captured c2`s and c3`s we haven`t decided on numbers yet but they should be allowed to produce some food even if it`s not the best thing to use for growing food

not sure which it was honestly but yeah it`s something that no one has really ever cared to talk about i would assume that it wasn`t all together intended to be that way, but when it was realized that those planets couldn`t be converted it was deemed to much work and effort to rewrite and figure a work around as most of the game is lazy and things we`re done in a way so that stuff was built off of existing systems in place rather than designing new systems to handle things.

Its weird that its not programmed so it would just be called like a Tainted Large or something. Ste just couldnt find a way to taint them without turning them into a C1?

Im assuming that if thats the only reason its not allowed for us to use them that could be fixed pretty easily?

Well, EE you have a point. But, I also know that we make up for our low upkeep with no exploration and that we can`t assimilate (or infect) Clusters and use them for Agri.

Which is a point I wanted to bring up. If Collectives capture tainted planets, we cannot assimilate them. And I`m sure the same goes for Virals. Was that intentional, or a bug that nobody really notices because not many Collectives play?

as a collective or viral you will not generate minerals from a planet unless it`s infected/assimilated also the reason you could not infect them is because they would be counted at c.1`s like any other normal planet, and every viral every where would use nothing but 10k land larges to make their c.3s /c.4`s 640k land for 64 planets would be a tad extreme one would think.

I think its really silly that we cant in the first place haha - perhaps you or someone else could tell me why its the way it is.

However, we can dig on them. I assume we also get minerals from them? I think the suggestion, at least my suggestion, was that it occurs automatically like mineral generation. If that were the case I think it would work the same as mineral generation does for us

What about those of us who have to Infect or Assimilate? We can`t touch U. Class. Would there be an alternative?

Lets say a U Rich produced 10 ore per turn. An entire infra level will net you 25000 ore. Thats really not a lot - like, you could get that in 100 turns of exploring icy`s and rocky`s.

The upside of this is that a hoarder who cant easily explore could keep a rich or two and get a relatively steady, yet pretty small, stream of ore. The downside for a hoarder is that its taking up at minimum one spot for planets, and when youre hoarding, for some races more than others, each single spot there for planets can be precious.

I think 10 ore or so per turn seems like a pretty decent amount. Not super OP, but imo a lot more beneficial to hold than u rich as they stand - and lets be clear, u rich is terrible right now.

In response to a guardian maybe hoarding riches. Lets say they had like 8 riches doing 80 ore per turn. ok, thats cool, but they could be doing that anyways if they wanted to just explore and strip mine. We could even make the rate race dependent - maybe miner gets 15 per turn, guard gets 5 per turn. Im just throwing out numbers here, but it could be done and it could be kept balanced fairly easily

I will admit that it`s a good idea. But that would also provide a new income source. I remember a Guard who used to just strip mine and use the money to fight at insane PR`s for how old he was. I`m all for good ideas, but we should at least check the pro`s and con`s first. Good idea tho!

because the turn based servers don`t have enough players to constantly get borders.

Hmm, U Rich generating ore is a great idea, would make them valuable for low pr empires and empires with high planet counts who cant explore, I like that idea

U.Rich grows ore per turn? best idea I have heard in a long time.
Ankaar

you mean like it grew more ore? Because Id absolutely love that. If I had a planet that just generated ore like they generate minerals, ID ABSOLUTELY keep that planet

And youre right, U rich is terribly useless right now. At low planet count I can explore more ore on regular planets in 10 turns than most rich planets, and minne it far more quickly.

Ive been suggesting we add a good deal more ore (like x10 whatever the range is now) and more land as well, but I really really like the idea of rich`s just getting more ore haha.

What if U. Rich generated X ore per turn? For example 10-15. Not a lot, but wnough to make smaller empires hang on to them for a little bit, help the ore market more naturally.
