  Collective update  

We should change some of the modifiers I think having agriculture modifier is awesome, but that double population specialty could be used if Collectives could be tax based, so increasing their Tax modifier to give incentive to actually play this race

People say that`s what plundering is for ! My argument is plunder collective or Maradar is extinct and does not actually exist anymore, it is due to the fact that the pay out of plundering is really low. For example if i had 101 housing, I could plunder a 20k cluster for only 2bill, that means I need atleast 100 20k clusters to actually go and fight with the big guys.
I am a mix of agriculture and plunder because I know im going to encounter clusters that I can`t use so I will plunder them. So I thought maybe a few levels in housing would def help with that.

Okay, after last night, I will kind of have to agree with Ankaar now. Not on the exploring part, but the race should be bumped up a little. My only thing is the Build Rates

I think collective is already good as it is. No need to have another tax race... they have good agri mods and can build high pr because of low upkeep. Only slight problem is low build rate and lack of ship options, especially missile. But it`s still ok.

Time is better spent just making a new race tat does CGS and rewards hoarding more than ever before by giving its special planet type huge modifiers for making c4 equivilants

Okay, I can agree to the stealing scouts part. That should work. I was just pointing out that it is not impossible to play like a real Collective. But it is true about it being hard to start

So dont allow them to explore if they have over 10 planets?

Thats still a wicked restriction, but it at the very least gives them a base to start from.

As it stands now, the only way a new collective can really get started well is hoping to god some newb leaves an easy target (and theres not a lot of new players here, in case you hadnt noticed) or hope that an old player goes inactive long enough that theres a decent planet to take.

Theyre not just hard, theyre nigh impossible to really get going. I think 10, or even 5 planets as a cap for exploring, leaves them still being quite difficult while actually making them playable.

Or if youd prefer another way, allow them to steal and use scouts from other races, and leave the 5/10 planet max for marauders

Meh. Giving Collectives Tax producers would just make the server even more unbalanced. I love this race, but going tax wouldn`t work.

@Ankaar- Exploration would take all of the trying in this race. True, it would provide us an easier way to survive, but Collective MIGHT just be the hardest race in the game, and I feel that it needs to stay that way.

allowing some form of exploration is key for both maru and collective in the game at this point - without exploration, even limited to a much lower total planet count than the regular 86 planet limit, its very very difficult to get going as either race

If we add another tax thread, might as well be UC, where everything is tax. I think keeping it Agri makes it better, but give them extra income mods on their planets or a bump in their racial mods. And give limited ability to explore, would also increase the appeal of this race

And keep in mind, this was back when ship build rates for collective were absolutely garbage.

I definitely think plundering needs to be more lucrative than it currently is, because as things stand now, Maru and Collective have more incentive to keep their clusters and go agri than to go plunder. Increasing benefits to plunder by a factor of 5 or 10 should definitely help matters in this regard I think.

But I do agree that we don`t need another tax-based race.

Of course, the real reason why collective and even maru are next to impossible to play is because of the low levels of players in this game. Back in its hay day, GC had way more players populating the ranks, and c2 and even c3 clusters from inactives flowed like water if you were active enough. This made collective and maru much more satisfying to play.

I agree with Omeg. I think increasing our modifiers a little would add more incentive to the race.
