JackOffJill 2014-05-30 | | Pricepoint? Food for TaxTerran | | Does anyone know the break-even point for a Tax-Terran if you`re solely buying food? Interested for the economics of it (though supplementing it with a single U.Fert with a few gordos thrown at it never hurts, I would like the numbers for pure buying).
Almost got my second K Class researched but I`ve always been Marauder or Guardian... In a moment of silliness I might just restart and try something I haven`t before, though going into it blind would be silly.
I`d work it out but, meh... Lazy =) |

The tax has higher base pr which will make you lose many more battles and have substantially less targets with no better income in the case of a Terran. Although you may find out that terrains have missions and can go above 5k loyalty. Splitting infra isn`t bad if you want to remain exploitable... I recommend 2 25k c2s 1 gordoed fertile on top with 4 10k larges and a 2 land spaz below |
Ragnarok 99+ day(s) ago | Indeed, you are far better off going agriculture terran and then having the great fortune of capturing a c3 off a (very) high level tax empire and maxing out the loyalty.
In such a situation, you are effectively selling your food at a guaranteed price of 15. This is good if price is lower (which it very often is), but marginally bad on those occasions where food is selling (sometimes much) higher than 15.
That said, speaking from experience, and agriculture terran is very often a victim of their own success when they make so much food as to force food prices down to 1 or 2 per unit on a constant basis.
So, if you ever capture a c3 (or even a c2) from a taxer, DONT MESS WITH THE INFRASTRUCTURE. Instead just max the loyalty and enjoy the free cash coming in from your built-in domestic market. In the case with the c2, it would be very interesting to cluster into a c3 with 4 other agriculture c2s, making it something of a hybrid tax/agriculture c3. :D
Either way, you will always want to invest in agriculture instead of housing/tax for terran. |
EphemeralEternity 99+ day(s) ago | as for buffing a fert, for a terran with no levels in agri a fert will make 4.2 food per land allocated to agri, so a terran with 42 mil pop would consume 4.2 mil food a turn so then you would need a fert with 1 mil land devoted to agri to have a 0 food usage per turn which is about 4 to 5 times as much land devoted to agri than would be required for the housing. |
EphemeralEternity 99+ day(s) ago | you break even at exactly 15 over that and your in the red, over 19 with goods at 4 per unit your in the red, over 33 if you can manage to keep getting goods at 1 but good luck with that and all that is with 5k loyalty
look to the strategy board at my "Racial Stats" threads lot of your econ based questions can be answered or figured out using those

TheBoogieMan 99+ day(s) ago | Break even point should be around 19.. if im not wrong.. |
Jammer 99+ day(s) ago | I tried doing that "moment of silliness" and restarting once... It was horrible. Guardian for life. |
