  Allowing of multi accounts?

Being a some-what frequent switcher back in the day, to keep things interesting, would a possible way to get more activity in the game be to allow a second account per person, per server?

If (A)`s and (G)`s are able to monitor one person with two known, announced accounts on the same server containing the same RL name/details, could it not be allowed to generate more income and activity? (Allowing say, 1 extra account per game speed if your first is a paid)

Obviously, no contact, punishable by losing said accounts. A number of people are just sitting around with nothing left to do, max infra and lots of cash/planets just dozing/VMing. By allowing a secondary account of a different race, it could incite extra income and activity within the server, especially benefiting RT quite nicely.

I know the market would be the main issue, but the delay and aggressive buying of needed resources by everyone does counter this (but may simultaneously stimulate more growth/manyfacturing). Apologies if this has been rasied recently/gets knocked down without a single thought to it (having returned a couple of weeks ago).

Proxies, proxies oh my. Also if you`re using a internet provider link where the ip address to your specific last mile-marker (ie - local home location) constantly changes (dhcp, anyone?) then it just doesn`t make IP-based filtering worthwile.

Also as a side note - TOR routers.

Having it blocked just by IP would be silly, there are so many work arounds or just default carrier configurations (non-static ip, anyone?) that would make it just useless feature.

Just my two cents on the whole `lets filter by ip only!` bandwagon.

Well, there`s a simple solution to this. Hope that I did not overlook anything.

The secondary account need to have the "same name" as the original account:
ArchAng3l and ArchAng3l{2nd}

On account needs to be in VM before another account is allow to be used.

If people see both ArchAng3l and ArchAng3l{2nd} out in the rank at the same time, or notice one of them is not in vm, then it`s obvious they are breaking rules and could inform staff about that. This leave the policing effort to the public too.

Essentially we want the oldies who don`t want to lose their "precious" account while still have opportunity to play something else on and off, here`s what we can do:

Only allow max research player to have a second account (this is our targeted user group and could limit the number of second account created, hence reducing admin effort)

If two account are found to trade mineral, planets, etc. Both account are force restart.

The above would reduce a lot of admin effort monitoring. Of course, doing this mean extra work for our poor admin :S

I`m a TC player myself. Been playing for 8 years. The easiest answer to that Founders is....Ched cares about his game. He`s constantly updating it, giving it new features, fixes bugs, makes it to where players want to stay and new players come in. When there`s a feature in the game that kinda sucks, he gets players input and then talks to his STAFF about the best way to change that feature to make it work for the games benifit. Look at the time and effort they are putting into RESPO. They just changed the way companies work.
Imagine if GC could have a war function the way TC does. If we could could win respect points and use them to help upgrade our federations with different things. The Fed ranking system be based on RP instead of planet count.

In other online games such as Torn city, 2 accounts can not interact in any form whether its attacking or market transfer if there IP address`s are near each other. Why cant this be implemented here?

stephen probably has a psychological problem concerning GC.. as long has he can continue making enough cigarette money off the game, he refuses to let it die.

Also because he doesnt care enough to put any effort into developing it further, he also cares enough to be worried about it suddenly taking off once he gives away the code. He`s afraid he wont get his royalties from its supposed success..

Unfortunately, there is little chance of that happening even if he does give away the code. Social media and mobile apps have basically rendered this style of gameplay impractical. People want visuals and sounds and collect little items and whatnot..

The game only survives----EXISTS----(i wouldnt call it surviving..) because of the few loyal players and the scant few n00bs who for the life of me I cant understand why they would even bother...

I only play now because of the people in my fed. If they weren`t a part of GC anymore...neither would I be. And ya`ll wouldnt miss me.

Does Stephen give a reason for not handing over coding access or is it like a "I don`t wanna!" attitude? lol

the temptation to cheat would be to much for most people it doesn`t matter what checks and balances are in place
everyone would just make a miner account and a guard account and use the miner account to bolster the guard account then use one to scout people then attack with the other. you really want to log in every day to see that someone based in range of you, hit you with 1 fodder then wiped you for 3 with the other account day in and day out?

Not Going to happen, because the temptation to cheat would be to much for most people it doesn`t matter what checks and balances are in place it still takes an Admin to be aware of the situation and that would mean we`d have to go through every single account on the daily to rule out any cheating.

Besides everyone would just make a miner account and a guard account and use the miner account to bolster the guard account then use one to scout people then attack with the other. you really want to log in every day to see that someone based in range of you, hit you with 1 fodder then wiped you for 3 with the other account day in and day out?

and yes we can make rules, to limit this or that but then that requires even more policing. This game isn`t as automated as everyone things, your turns regenerate because hamsters on wheels turn so many rotations to grant you a turn. and the monkeys with the abacus are getting old and slipping that`s why the math doesn`t work out properly.

And yes there are tons of ways to code systems to do lots of wonderful things that would allow for simple systems to be put into place to monitor cheating and regulate accounts via Ip and the like. but only stephen has coding access, he`s not interested in doing anything with GC if he were he could fix 1 of 3 dozen issues that BW has already given him the proper code to fix and yet he someone how can`t navigate his own code to input one line in to fix.

One day perhaps stephen might give coding access to BW, like we`ve requested for 6+ years now, but who knows when that will happen, and when it does, this thing will have to be updated into this decade first, because most of the code that GC uses was obsolete and inefficient for any game 1998.. no Joke, much less here in 2014.

A better solution at the moment would be for everyone to make an account on all servers and bolster TB activity then convince the people who play only TB to give RT a try and it would just make all the servers exciting again.

I could see it being something such an an `Account ID` which is with all your overall information etc, and then within each account you could create up to X amount of empires. Since they all share the same account ID you could impose restrictions such as the ones everyone has listed so far.

This is all a pipe dream however, and I doubt it would ever see fruition.

Depending on Stephen`s coding, it should be relatively simple to insert tracking of IP contacts (hell, an AS-Level ComSci student could write it). Market is delayed already to prevent instantaneous transfers, some will occur I`m sure but it`s not 100% effective, plus surely having extra income for the game and more activity is a more positive benefit.

Maybe Stephen would have to make a decision on it, but let`s face it, a vote by the community will show those in favour or not.

I wish this was possible.... I feel that the work of keeping up with planet trading and market transfer would unbalance the game.

My suggestion is to use 5 NPC accounts placed at 5 different prs that come out at random with random types of unique planets/ clusters on their 3rd border.
They never attack and always have a different fleet.
They can even interact with the market some if we want....

I`d totally be happy to run a mineral miner as well as my guard account.
