Biohazard 2013-08-12 |  | Hard Restart of RT Server ONLY |  | I`d like to open up a discussion of a hard restart for Real Time (RT) server as a means of revitalizing the server, an experiment of sorts and see how things would change.
I know this has been asked for & refused in the past. Than updates were promised. Some where done, others not.
How does GC-RT stand on a server wide reset. Lose it all, and start from 0.
My guess, even i have been in favor of a reset of GC this will die a quite dead. That say`ec, who do you vote why and under what conditions would you agree to a Hard Reset?

American4Ministry 99+ day(s) ago | Ya, just remember what makes this game great is building an empire that lasts forever, the option for quick land that is easy to lose has always been there as well for those who don`t dig or buy paids. I either always horded or captured big gordos planets never really dug. Give out gordos for activity is a good prize? My vote is for incentives for activity no changing to already existing stuff. |
fortythree 99+ day(s) ago | I can see your point AM but I`d say that if I`d paid cash I`d be more hacked off by the lack of positive involvement from the games creator. Don`t get me wrong I think EE especially does a bang up job Administering us but he`s doing it with one hand tied behind his back. I really do think that those who have currently got huge planets would have a better experience having to fight to keep what they`ve built up. If not I can`t really see the point of continuing to play. I know I find the game more rewarding when I`ve got juicy planets near borders and I`m fighting to keep them. |
American4Ministry 99+ day(s) ago | You are right, both of you are right, but the fact is people gordoed for so long so they could just get on and explore and not have to fight for borders. If we change it now it really is fair. Fortythree you are right there needs to be more incentives to go high, controling ranks for certain time like king of the hill style prizes or even most planets prizes. VM situation also could be adressed, it usually is during an event yoiu are disqualified if you vm. well make planet count events that way and prizes worth the risk of not vming when you get in border trouble.. The food market will balance itself... Especially if you can start a new empire and receive land as a taxxer immediantly. |
fortythree 99+ day(s) ago | A4M No one would loose anything. It would just be that massive land blocks would become clusters which would make them vulnerable. I think that if some penalty were placed on repeatedly VMing this would fix a lot of the activity issues as people would have to fight to keep what they had built up. I know that I was gutted when BW plundered his clusters to fight as an explorable. Having the chance to go up against one of the top empires and take a nice cluster was what got me starting to think more long term in this game. I think exploable empires should be relegated to bottom feeding as whilst they may take skill and effort to set up they require no effort to maintain. Likewise VM abusers (and I`ll admit on one or two occasions I`ve done this, more to deny specific individuals easy wins then myself losses) should be heavily penalised. I can understand that people may need to VM for prolonged period but VMing for a week, coming back and using turns and VMing for another week is just plain abuse of the feature. |

Can`t believe you would even think to discuss that. These people kept the game alive. If your motives are to grow a balanced game then try to balance by adding things in and not taking things away if possible. |
EphemeralEternity 99+ day(s) ago | Not going to give that much land to new empires in any form. also there will never be enough support to restart RT server,
so about the only options was the one i listed while people will be losing super U class and clusters their over all land will remain the same. though arti stores would be lost. though it is also an incredible amount of work.
The second realistic, but far fetched idea is trying to get the DM server fixed so that it can be come a server that can be restarted when ever we want or feel it needs to be. but that will require even more work though it will fix nothing on the other GC servers. |

American4Ministry 99+ day(s) ago | dont make it land that can be captured..... give terrans and miner new empires the option to start with 30k fertile or 30k edens as homewords that cant be lost... you just need to find a way to balance the game without taking peoples stuff away from them... basically give everyone else what they have.... thats what every game ends up doing to try to balance vets vs newbs in games that go on for years like this one |
Ragnarok 99+ day(s) ago | If we could change the nature of the artifacts, it would have been done a LONG time ago. Just asking Stephen to break major and minor gordos is likely to be a herculean task in and of itself. Nothing stopping you from talking to him though. |

@Rag you can`t make PCCs without Gordos so the only thing you could make is Dineros. |

Breaking the gordos would be the best way to destroy any incentive to really dig anymore since gordos, stc, regs, historia and btc are the main things people strive for anyways. The only thing left to really dig for is.....what.....PCC? Which take an insane amount of arties to make?
Also, staff given land can`t be taken if you buff the home world size I think. If we did that, it would have the nice benefit of raising the profile of a newb high enough for fed leaders to recruit them from the onset if they wanted to.
Now, of course, it would mean you`d end up with a bunch of 1 planet terrans and miner empires above 5k that can never be killed....... :P |

Have stephen break minor and major gordos so they could no longer be fused, and have it so STC can no longer be dug. (may as well try and fix TB too) that way the only way to get btcs stc`s and gordos would be from events.
Remove all btcs/stcs/historia`s on all TB servers, maybe give them a week to be used up.
Lower all planets to higher than 1.2k average per planet to a 1.2k per planet
lower all U class planets to 1.2x their maximum.
Now as conpensation for the land lost i could put the land lost in to 80k or less c3`s or c.4`s for viral and collectives and give them to the empires who lost the land so that they`d now have to protect clusters.
in my mind that would be the best way to restore balanced on the servers, though it might make a few vmers and would certainly cause people to quit i`m sure, Also it hurts those who can only get paid accounts by selling gordos so
If enough people want to get behind this then i will take it into serious consideration. |

American4Ministry 99+ day(s) ago | SERIOUSLY! GIVE OUT LAND TO NEW EMPIRES! It solves all problems...... New players get a good boost, encourages restarts so people have stuff to use turns on that have finished infra. Doesn`t completely screw over old empires by taking 10 years worth of work away, while still leveling the playing field. Its also something that you can do now without having stephen to agree |
