Right, there had been threads before discussing the fact there is little fighting going on in the upper parts of the rankings list of GC RT. The reason to this was many empires are not willing to spend or did not have the recources to match other super empires who can stay up top as long as they want. Currently all I can see is Sibiriangun and some SBers fighting each other over the 100mil line constantly and it took all of these empires a long time to be able to do so (research, planets etc) which in return results in a stagnant game altogether. A change in max power had also been in a discussion before I think and I know this can`t be done from a code point of view but maybe we can just set a limit which we all respect.
I just want to see if people would be interested in setting a cap at lets say 70mil - 150mil and see if that would get more fighting going on. I think many people would like to fight up high but get demotivated by the fact they have to climb for an entire day without certainty of surviving up there at all. This is not an idea to confront SB personally, I just would like the game to be more active up top as well.

Last event we had like this collectives got instant points for plundering so hopefully you get a treat.

I beilive their all x.class so they get passed around. Whoever is holding thwm at the end of the event may be able to get them changed into a nice colony. Thus trick or treat, I could be wrong but im sure thee event admin will clarify in the long so I would hold onto those treats if I were you guys.

Food producers if you want your food to sell I suggest you post at 9. There will be a veritable wall at 10. In fact there already is :P

Well, what to say. Is food at 10 unfair for tax empires? If it isn`t then 10 would be a nice food limit I suppose. You can not hear it but I am actually asking very nicely right now :P

So Raist what your saying is that empires X,Y and Z abuse the system so therefore I will also. Given this is the attitude of a G it`s no wonder the game is in decline. I do agree with your point that community action is difficult to implement but that is because the view is that the community have no real say in the running of the game. If that were to change then maybe the attitude of the community would change. Oh and I remember the action of Honeybucket, at the time I was a relitively new and hopelessly inexperienced empire. When I bought minerals as was intended I remember getting threatened and harrassed by larger more experienced empires, I can`t remember if you were one, but what this felt like to me at the time was the big empires looking after their cronies. If action like this is to succeed it need to be made clear what the expectations are and what sanctions the commmunity should/would make to those who go against it and to get the agreement of the majority of active players to implement/police this.

Catt - I can raise the food price if you ask nicely. I post everything I make at 7 atm, so unless I stop posting it will never rise above that. I will never undercut anyone or post at 6, I`ve been letting everyone post there if they need food sold.

Yeah i dont tend to go that high in power (over 20 mil) often due to ship upkeep, being a mineral miner it does mean i can fight more/longer than a tax miner but jsut gets boring blowing a hole in my cash, and usually when im going offline i end up getting based or id stay up there longer, takes too long to build a fleet to break the 100 mil barrier for me

yeh I don`t gordo up either. Pretty hard to make a living as a Collective but it is very interesting at the same time. I would be happy with food a little higher but I suppose like it is now is good for everyone.

Food directly affects my ability to climb up higher and fight the ranks. So in my case it is a lack of resources but I knew that from the moment I chose to go this race that it will be not easy.

I think Drkst and Ren made some interesting points to by pass the power cap in one way or another. Can the market caps be modified?

I don`t gordo up and i seem to be doing ok, but then again i put almost a year into getting my empire setup.

It`ll be like it is now. I feel myself forced to constantly gordo up because the enemies i face, several of whom are guardians who gordo up. In order to keep up with the multiple empires, i in turn have to gordo. The the wheel comes full circle - they keep gordoing up because I will.

And asking for the community to band together and work as a team - Honeybucket tried that, and it worked for maybe a week. And then all the `pondsucking` empires as I call them kept ignoring his pleas and buying up the mineral market without a care. I recall one person in the forums telling HB that they were buying all the minerals because they were there, and it was a part of the game.

I`ve seen this mentality resurfaced multiple times throughout the game`s history, so maybe I`ve become jaded when I see people bring up things like "the community should band together"

Should? yes. Will? not likely.

Ok so we might disagree about a lot of points but we do seem to agree on the evils of gordo`s. I realise that a solution wouldn`t be implementable in code but couldn`t some sort of agreement be reached within the community or is this a minority view?
Forcing empires who want to be "safe" to lower PRs or shorter forays into the higher PRs seems eminantly sensible.

Lols. This thread is quite interesting.

I kinda like DG`s idea to help increase activity, but the rewards would have to be carefully worked out.

I`ve never been a gordo`er. It bores me, hoarding is more fun and keeps things a bit more lively. So I`m all for bashing the explorable people :P On the other hand that would help my fed and not our enemies, so maybe not.
Same with nerfing Guards, I don`t want my enemies hindered, at least not on RT. :(

A miners and Guardians are OP. Terrans, Virals, and Collectives are balanced. Maru are a bit Underpowered IMO. Not much but they lack a good way to econ.

About the old empires... My Terran here was able to constantly fight 100m no problem by 50 days... And that`s not very old. Also I`m universally considered awful at GC, so if I can do it, you can, too!


I propose dropping mineral caps to 10m of each mineral, and cash cap to 250b. That should stop the cash hoarding quite nicely.

"Third massively ancient empires. I`m sure this would be hugely unpopular but some sort of either forced restart once a certain age is reached or a progressive handicap applied to older empires. When I started it was massively intimidating going up against empires with huge ages which would obviously have massive resources compared to me. I think forcing or encouraging empires to restart would help keep the game fresh."

You might have a tiny point here but not as much of one as you think.. Those of us who actually fight often and especially in my case don`t really have a ton of resources built up.. Most races can match or even surpass what alot of us have in a short amount of time and often do..

And going back to your first point throwing a handicap on people based around the few massively gordoed empires is quite unfair to everyone else.. Forcing empires to restart is not what GC was founded on either.. but i`m all for encouraging empires to restart that`s why UW Rewards exists you know..

Fact of the matter is in my situation while i might have a ton of land myself.. I also face a handicap from that which is made basically made unfair because of the gordoed empires who can easily come up, scout me, then wipe me all while im alseep if i sit anywhere lower down then where i normally sit these days.. and the cost of this for them is probably nothing.. infact it wouldn`t shock me if they made cash doing it.. all the while they can explore.. Because of this i`m basically poor at all times..

My entire empire is made pointless by people who can fight on equal ground to me in pr/income with absolutely no downside at all..
