  New Eden

From the log of Geffen Pildram ex-acting commander of The Glorious Morning a Hercules class Juggernaught of the Fourth Great Terran Empire.

Sometime after the battle centered around New Eden (e.6970)

The horrors I have witnessed in my time umongst the viral invaders are something wich I cannot describe, They forbid it for fear that any man that learned of what was awaiting them should they surrender themselves would choose to self-destruct rather than be assimilated. I still do not know why they let me keep my mind, But what they probably deem a gift is in fact a curse I wouldn`t wish upon anyone, I wish I had died in the war.

The war, The last great battle to deny the encroaching hoard. We had to make that one final stand and hope we could drive enough of them off so as to save those that still survived on Eden. Eden was our last stronghold, The last glimmer of hope. But now its burned, Been consumed and left to rott. I just hope my wife was killed in the bombings.

My ship was stationed in a perminant orbit around Eden, a kind of deterrant to any that might wish to soil our great land. And in the 20 years I was stationed on it there was nothing more than the typical tedium of keeping up appearances. That is why when suddenly a huge fleet from the home-system appeared without warning we were so slow to react. We had no knowlege of the war, No real inclination of trouble. They barely got within coms distance than another darker force appeared behind them.

But as I returned my gaze upon the initial camera something ghastly happened. The dead girl was disolving. And from her body came these little purple wormlike creatures. They were quickly slinking across the floor and burrowing into the heads of every body they found. After a few minutes those bodies started to jerk, then they got up and began advancing into every corridor they could find.

Those that did not put up a fight were taken alive to the enemy ship. Seeing this I ordered over the coms for everyone to stand down and to surrender. I figured that we could negotiate and find some terms of peace, How naieve i was.

And so It was that I was taken on board the sister ship. To face a man whose face I knew but who was certainly not the man himself. The old captain was a thing of true horror, with large patches of his face blown away and his skin peeled back off his extremities, Taken as a host a seeming leader umongst them. I dont know if it was a small rememberance or just them playing a cruel game but they let me keep my mind, they still subjected me to the tortures that I now learned all of my fellow survivors had to endire. Our bodies were tested on, subjected to every kind of pain imaginable, Untill finally many had their mind snapped. Broken but functional they were then taken over.

I had to watch numbly as they used my ship to enter the atmosphere where they started rounding up thousands of people at a time to be taken for processing.

It used its shield to buffer the impact and I could hear the light thuds as it harpooned into us. Horrified I threw up the internal cameras onto the main screen. Forming up quickly the soldiers converged on the new hole in the wall and took aim into it, waiting for any threat to show itself. And then something that made my breath catch in my throat appeared there. It resembled a little girl in a sunday dress. Carrying her stuffed panda bear she slowly walked into the center of the room as my men backed off unwilling to believe their eyes. The girl though, Had purple moss throbbing upon her skin, and her eyes were a terrible blood red. Something oozed out of her ear and dripped upon the ground. A growl escaped her throat and in a flash she attached herself to the nearest soldier and bit his throat out.

Wasting no time she grabbed the next and snapped his neck. Before you knew it half the men were dead before any could even unload a bullet. Finally it seems they found their guns and opened fire. She got hit in the stommach, a large gapeing hole formed, and then she smiled. chickening her head to the side she let herself get decimated by bullets and then fell to the ground. But by now there were more figures showing up, making their way into the hall and flinging themselves upon what was left of the soldiers. Pushing them back door by door viciously slaughtering everyone they could reach.

By the time I ordered the salvo fired it was too late to save the rest of the fleet, Allready being torn to shreds by the enemy fleet. Several ships exploded a short distance away from our ship and I had to shield my eyes from the blinding light. When I chanced to look again I noticed that several of the ships were being tethered together and these grotesque creatures were running along the lines between and into them. A few fighters and frigates remained, aparantly too small to be considered a target. So they joined up with us and we advanced toward our crippled line. I ordered the fighters to attempt to sever the binding lines and toss the vile creatures off into space, while we turned our attentions on something that stole the very breath from my body.

For there in front of us was our sister ship, the Terra Navada. I did not immediatly recognize it of course, for there seemed to be a faint purple moss growing upon its hull, nearly completely obscuring the name. Had I not served on it myself I probably would have missed it myself. There were large gapeing holes in the hull and it looked like alot of the weapon turrets were tore clean off. But to my charinge it was still working, Headed directly toward us as if for impact. I ordered evasive manuvers but it was too late, these bigger rust buckets were too slow to move effectivly.
