  WHich is better

Typically after I populate a planet or cluster of planets I remove the housing which bascially negates any loyalty you have put on that planet
but it saves you in food costs I`ve been doing this for a long long time I`m sure somewhere along the way I did the math and figured that unless food was super cheap that it was overall better to do it this way.
So i`m wondering should i plunder my housing and save on food or keep the housing pay for food and make more per turn .

For all of you wondering this is basically a case of an empire being so old he has become a n00b again
It`s why shows like Are you Smarter than a Five Grader are so popular we all learned it but it was so long ago wè have forgotten :)

I`ve depoped to one housing on all my colonies and I currently make 2k food a turn just by having agri on my home world :P shows you how many turns I`ve used since I got back that I`ve already made something like 7 or 8 million food since my VM expired earlier this week :P Oh, have already made over 90b posting CGs too, hope people have been enjoying them :P Glad to be back here and active, 20 days of VM were a lot longer than I wanted to be gone.

I use over 200k land and keep it populated to maintain that. I use less than 30k food/turn. I can literally go months without touching the food on the market. Negligible.

i only keep enough pop to populate my planets. as a terran, the residual tax income offsets the cost of infra maintenance. also cgs give me an extra boost per turn.. i dont do clusters...

True and on Normal server even with food at 20 post-UW, the cost to feed my population is around 80,000 credits. Affordable. :)

50CENT has the right idea, I think.

Well lets say he hss 50k land..so 50k population..if he makes just 2 credits per after maintince cost and. Food ect per turn..that`s 100k a turn profit. Over few hundred thousand turns it all adds up. Mivht not be much but its a proffit lol.

Positive or negative of essentially nothing, is still nothing. Just to get in my 2 cents. :>

I`ve always kept my population as a Terran, I can`t say its really benefited me. But I`m so small now that it`s more fun to be part of the market economy, so I just keep the pop.

Go ahead and kill it and give it to me. Ill cluster it with something and still use it lol As long as its not U planets or C3s..those we need least one house on lol

I only ever keep enough housing to populate my planets its seems to me that i`d make more keeping my housing , thought maybe there was a hard and fast rule/formula
thanks everyone for input

when i was terran i always killed all but 1 house on all my planets just keep the 1 house incase you ever want to change the planet from comm to aggi

Amen renagade...still trying to figure out how the price of feeding 100k pop is neglable? That`s credits either way..wether its positive or negitive.

And that is how the game economy goes down by essentially removing land from circulation. As if there isn`t already a lack of it.

Saga, it is probably better to just to kill the people off. you never know when rl stuff will happen and you might lose a few colonies. with no pop, your enemy cant change the infra haha

Still the food costs are negligible Brotherhood.

Not if you have 100-200k worth of land like some do. And you use turns daily.

15/ unit and/or negligible. Food costs are almost nonexistent when maintaining for JUST the total infra of the planets.

exactly what grantweep wrote. the break even point is $15/unit.

if you are terran and food is around 15 or below, and you have max loyalty. Keep the housing.

well i would imagine that so long as your a race with a decent tax modifier, terran`s+0 is decent, and if add loyalty to those planets...so long as you buy food cheap say at 5, and if you just have enough pop to infra your planets, max food can last potentially months (which also gives you a much longer time to find more cheap food) and of course keeping cg`s i don`t see why not, it`s plus a few K`s a turn..

i`m a com viral and i keep enough pop to support my infra.. I use around 18k food a turn, and tax income generates around 300k a turn for me, so 120k a turn profit not including in the profit for goods.....and of course that would go up depending on how cheap i can find food or goods which seems easier because i don`t feel pressured to buy food except when i want too..

but yeah it comes down to either wanting all the profit you can get, or having a lower base pr with little to no market worries.
