99+ day(s) ago | I for one would never give up my empire just to make the game better for other people and the game for me a living hell. Playing NPC`s is kinda boring becasue all you do is BTC up a fleet and wait to be hit or hit people rebuild and do it again. There is no development f the empire at all, unlike with your own empire. A win means nothing, a loss means nothing.
Now if we get NPC`s in the game then it would be fun however it would also have to be limited in what they have as colonies (we all know how silly 128k C5`s and 62.5k C3`s are...they tend to go to players that have large land anyways yadda yadda...insert argument about rich getitng richers, poor getting screwed (which I don`t subscribe to BTW, but playing devils advocate here)).
Now with NPC`s, if we get it set up right it will go well, I agree we need them to spice the game up but it`s not up to me. |

99+ day(s) ago | If admins and staff had to stop playing the game like the rest of us I think we would find it more difficult to find admins and staff. Unless they were paid their only motivation is love of the game. Diminish that and they have no reason to continue putting effort into it.
In case you think playing an NPC is the same as having a normal empire it is not. You have inherent advantages and every time you are out making attacks, or even when you are out at specific power ratings you will be critiqued by the community. I guarantee if the staff regularly played NPC`s to do more than UW, or if they allowed volunteers to play NPC`s many people would call them out as bias. This would be a logical assumption because people would not benefit unequally even if that wasn`t the intention of the staff.
I think that having an NPC UW now and again would be cool. I think it should be announced a month ahead of time so that some skirmishes for the ranks can occur and no one can say it was timed to benefit anyone.
The staff when planning events has to consider the community reaction because we are in fact a small community. Our opinion matters to them because they want us to have fun during these events.
I personally think that if you want to see more action then try and make something happen. The servers get stale when no one wants to take any risks. |
