warmonger11 2011-11-05 | | long DM post | | this comes after great post ashylarry on the original DM thread, and im gonna second that notion. however, i dont want to probably triple post on the original thread, moderators probably wont like that. so here is a thread of its own. i played for the first 5 hours getting a tax miner off the ground. woof! i always felt like i was eating my next paycheck:
You used up 300 turn(s) Credit -enough to power your fleet, Food -everything and then some Goods -hah! you dont have goods
... crud
basically how i felt every step of the way, very disheartening. however, it was not impossible! i believe that if food were not provided on the brown market, it would be impossible. and the entirety of the battle i got to see was 3 Hrs of research, followed by 2 hours of fighting a maru 4 times which i got to kill. probably took him alot to amass that C2 with how long DP was for a total of 20 players. i really respect him for doing so well! and eventually me going to bed with two sets of borders and it was barely enough. i then plundered my C2 and other large i didnt lose and called it an event at that point.
these things really do need to be 4-6 hours long, with the same turn settings (ashy was right, these are dead on), and 15 minute DP, it actually lasts a little longer, its 15 min and then you wait for the server to refresh, which is to the next 5 min or so i guess. plenty of time to finish a few research projects, or a few lvls of infra, are collect a new C1 of anything you feel desperate enough to cluster (i aim for 500+. its a C1 to last you 4 hrs, not set a UW off with), and then get thrown back into the maelstrom of killing machines before you choke up another set of borders for the coll/marus and get a bit more done.
its not often i get to pull the old curmudgeon card, but back in my day when these things were invented, they were short, fast, and furious at the rates people chased each others clusters to gain those extra 10 planets before time was called. makes me sad that accordex didnt attend this one, she was always on top of her game for these things.
Won`t fit

Requiem 99+ day(s) ago | says ishamael, who`s name is bloody hard to pronounce. |
Ishamael 99+ day(s) ago | Says kelti, who`s input has proved worthless time and time again. |
keltikelti 99+ day(s) ago | say`s a player that doesn`t even play DM |
AccordEX 99+ day(s) ago | yes i vote take away the prizes for everyone, if people are going to cry about things and ruin the fun that is available just take it away. |
ShatterdDreams 99+ day(s) ago | i know the DM isn`t perfect. True is the DM is screwed up bad, we have to use a whole new roll of duct tape each DM to get it to work. i`d love to have control over every aspect of the DM with lots of shiny edit buttons and spawn buttons.
you have some good points war.
though one of the biggest problems i see with the DM is participation there`s about 25 accounts on the DM, barely ever 10 active at once. Honestly we don`t have enough players to support a DM. we may suspend prizes and just open up the DM periodically with themes or w/e just for the spirit of slaughter.
we`ll just have to see how things go. |
Raistilin 99+ day(s) ago | Amen, let his words be written in stone and passed down through the ages. |
Apollo 99+ day(s) ago | Ad Trollinem
A logical fallacy sometimes used in debates, wherein a party feels that their argument has been refuted, and attempts to back out of their own argument by claiming to have been trolling all along. This is invalid, for a successful troll would never have any reason to admit to trolling, as letting the trolled know that they have been trolled defeats the purpose of trolling in the first place. |
warmonger11 99+ day(s) ago | yes, im kidding you all. it was a great joke. ha ha..
ill go agri next time... |
BadWolf Game-Admin 99+ day(s) ago | warmonger11 yes you were. |
Apollo 99+ day(s) ago | if you cant spare 33 min to get max loyalty you have no right complaining you dont make enough money as tax...go agri |
grantweep 99+ day(s) ago | are you kidding me war? |
warmonger11 99+ day(s) ago | its possible to get to 5000 loyalty, but at a turn per 2 seconds, thats still like 33 minutes. still a long time for something that difficult to maintain i thought. 1500 seemed more realistic to me i guess. was i the only taxer who didnt get to max loyalty? |
Apollo 99+ day(s) ago | IIRC there is a mission that significantly lowers the turn requirment of one of the g class ships. maybe it was a bug i experianced when i played miner few years ago |
BadWolf Game-Admin 99+ day(s) ago | Taxing:-
Using 1.5k loyalty in a calculation is a improper way of calcing things unless you are guardian you are not going to be getting anywhere near good profit without 5k loyalty which is perfectly reasonable to obtain on all planets with high turn regen. Simply reward to 5k then populate isn`t hard.
A.Miners with a proper amount of loyalty (5,000) make money with food upwards of 30+ without goods.
However Virals however only make money with food to 16-18 and 19 with goods.
Given these 2 facts... Food starting at 13 is a happy medium for all those involved. And i see no reason for that to be changed.
Guardians:-
Guardians only receive Hun-Li research from the a mission in act 2.. However given that missions are not functional on the DM they are still given the tech as if they completed the mission which is fair.
If A.Miners or any other race happened to have a mission which gave them tech i would agree with this point. If there`s a mission i`m overlooking i apologize given that i`ve yet to sleep in 30 or so hours.

warmonger11 99+ day(s) ago | i debated with myself on whether to include that bit. its not that it was hard, although im sure me sucking at taxing based economies doesnt help, but at food=13, agriterrans make 2.7 mil creds a turn (using above numbers) and miners make 1.7 creds a turn. the money disproportionately flows to a particular section of the economy. im just trying to find a better point at which to start the market so there is a bit of a level playing field. i think it would make the game more fun |
Raistilin 99+ day(s) ago | The richest account on the DM at this moment is an Aminer at 360m pr last time I checked and is still climbing.
How on earth is aminer difficult to start economy wise? |
