warmonger11 2011-10-13 | | taxing food tolerance by race | | considering how the food market dried up today and caused heck with the prices, the interplay between the food and CG market never became more obvious
i thought id do some excel play and determine what the maximum price of food each race could sustain and still turn a tax profit. my assumption was max housing research and a single unit of housing, using decimals to get the true values. other factors i considered were the appropriate racial modifiers, variation in the price of CGs, and the infrastructure maintenance
Rh - housing research Pg - price of goods Pf - price of food
pop = 10+Rh
T(ax income) = (pop/10)*(1+0.1racemod) CG (consumption profit) = (5-Pg)*(pop/10)*(1+0.1*racemod)
F(ood consumption cost) = (pop/10)*Pf M(aintenance) = 1 + 0.1*racemod
income = (T + CG) - (F + M)
the results:
(CG price), terran, a.miner, collective, marauder, viral (5, no CGs), 4, 12, 2, 0, 6, x (4), 9, 13, 2, 1, 7, x (3), 13, 14, 2, 2, 9, x (2), 18, 15, 2, 3, 11, x (1), 22, 16, 2, 4, 13, x
this trend is independant on the housing level past research level 50 or when the effect of population mechanics outweighs the infrastructure maintenance. what it implies is that above these values, an empire would lose money per turn from housing. practically, one could max out food stores below this value and ride out high food prices until the store dies down. this effect isnt felt until the food is purchased, rather than visibly per turn.
furthermore, it also suggests certain ethics for food and CG producers. both food and CG producers have a lever of power over tax incomes. increasing the price of food throttles the income until it eventually reverses and becomes a negative. decreasing the price of CGs increases the income, but to a much smaller extent; as CG price drops, the tolerances for food market shenanigans increases
let taxers, farmers, and fabricators all be made aware, and post responsibly (or use the information to further agression, its all good) |

warmonger11 99+ day(s) ago | updated results considering the loyalty; basically 3x the previous Tax income. (i obviously havent been a taxer myself in awhile, heh)
(CG price), terran, a.miner, collective, marauder, viral
(5, no CGs), 14, 37, 7, 0, 17, x
(4), 19, 38, 7, 1, 19, x
(3), 23, 39, 7, 2, 21, x
(2), 28, 40, 7, 3, 23, x
(1), 32, 41, 7, 4, 25, x
(0, free CGs), 37, 42, 7, 5, 27, x |
MajorDinero 99+ day(s) ago | I can save you a bunch of time...
With CGs, miners can make money up to around 38$ a unit of food
Virals, around 19$
and Terrans I believe around 15$ |
warmonger11 99+ day(s) ago | yes i did... ill update this later |
grantweep 99+ day(s) ago | uh, did you forget to factor in loyalty? |
