I found chlor, when spammed at around 200k-5 mill to be very effective. You however only usually win 1 or MAYBE 2 if your opponent sucks and 3 if they spam something chlor counters.
Now Flysch is a good ship over 10 mill PR assuming you can afford to build large amounts of them.
It really boils down to your economy and how `fat` you intend to become.
If your going tax (with low food prices right now and for the forseeable future not a bad choice) you will have a very robust and successful economy to be able to fight hgher PR`s, but have the base PR to make baby Jesus cry when you get a large amount of land.
Going Agri viral with food so `low` would make it harder and your much more market reliant with no per turn income so high upkeep ships can cripple you if your stock doesn`t sell when you need it to or you just can`t make enough food to make enough cash to fight at your desired level. It`s also generally the 2nd highest viral income style, HOWEVER you cannot use `normal` Clusters for agri and no Ferts, so that 25k C2 you capped from that terran? Useless to you. Where as comm and tax get to use it fully.
Commercial is the lowest of the 3 viable Viral income streams but also the most stable. You would need alot of land to make huge sums of money, which usually results in hoarding lots of planets and thus almost forcing you to fight at higher PR`s when you get over 150 or so due to the disadvantage your base PR puts you at (unless you hit from 129%, then it`s not quite so bad and chlor will help you alot in those situations...but it builds ...soooooo...slow.....)

TLDR:
It basically boils down to: You like low PR fighting or not hoarding? Get chlor. You like high PR fighting, hoarding and lots of land (150k+ land)? get flysch. |
