Sadistic{}Interns 2011-07-23 | | Food producers - UNITE! | | Seeing as We the Food producers are making more food - AND the Taxers aren`t using more food (but reaping the benefits of 20% more income) lets play a little with the market dynamics and make them PAY some more for their food!
What about no Food below 15 for the rest of "20% week"?? How does that sound?!
*hands out t-shirts*
Whose with me?! 15 - 20 - 25? Where will it stop!? |

ThoR 99+ day(s) ago | Well i am back! and i will buy food as long as its below 10, if you guys go not-smart again i will vmm, otherwise we all can get rich, i can eat all you produce:) |
elemental 99+ day(s) ago | hmmm... i remember when i one time brought up the food prices, i got threatened with a bunch of arties. could always hit fortythree with a few, just as a small warning (dont try stuff that affects money, since that would be kind of pointless, considering the profit hes making currently, try other stuff). OR we could try positive reinforcement. i dunno, though |
EvilAbadayos 99+ day(s) ago | issue is currently, fortythree is buying up anything under his wall of 15 per, to drop the price will be expensive |
elemental 99+ day(s) ago | just gonna throw my 2 cents in, but around 10 seems like a reasonable price. not too high that people wont buy it, and not too low that smaller food producers will have trouble with funds |
EvilAbadayos 99+ day(s) ago | no-one, im just active enough to have over 20 billion food on the market at any one time...least when its not bought out.
Having teh ability to have a wall of food at any given price point, and the inherit greed of players to sell asap, means that undercutting happen, resulting a single player able to manipulate the food market.
Time will tell with what happens next though |
forsakenwolf 99+ day(s) ago | and who made evilaby king of the food market ! blasphemy ! |
forsakenwolf 99+ day(s) ago | i wont put anymore food on the market im gonna stay at 2 bill food , tired of wasting food |
EvilAbadayos 99+ day(s) ago | Don`t worry, we will bring it down so that fourtythree wasted his money.
15 is too much for the agri empires, least virals, i say 7-10 is more reasonable, make it happen people |
AshyLarry 99+ day(s) ago | It doesn`t matter that somebody bought out food. Still too many food producers and not enough demand. Enjoy temporary high prices... it will fall as more food is made. |
ThoR 99+ day(s) ago | Whoever rised food price is dumb ass, not bying higher then 10$:) |
ThoR 99+ day(s) ago | Cheeew cheew cheww eating through your food right now :) |
jigglyPuff 99+ day(s) ago | @ Sad, dont blame the taxers, blame the producers of other things so taxers will use their cash on something *coughs*
I mean, was opus the only true mineral producer of the server, that scares me at times knowing there are others who are witholding some resources *coughs*

EvilAbadayos 99+ day(s) ago | you assume that, if there is a boom, the food will jump in price and stay there. This is however untrue. Market demands will dictate a crash after no more than an hour or two. In that time only the biggest taxers will chew threough 2 bill food and be able to still use turns and restock when the inevidble crash occures.
This will happen due to there being, as I`ve stated previously, alot more agri empires, producing much more food than the server (RT) requires to sustain the taxers at their current rate of consumption (food per turn eaten and amount of turns used during a 24 hour period).
With this excess the only thing that can happen is price crashes, as seen right now. The only reason it`s at 7-9 per is some empires are trying to boost the price by buying out and reposting. This is doomed to fail due to what I`ve stated previously int his post and others in this thread (more supply than demand, people undercut to unload their stock etc).
In the past, even the biggest of agri empires managed to stabilize the market by simply flooding it at their own personal price point, buy up those undercutting and reposting in their personal `wall` and maintained it.
So tell me...what is this about wild market flutuations in a flooded market thats only way it can progress is down? I really would like to see your take on this Rag. |
Ragnarok 99+ day(s) ago | EvilAbadayos, this might be true, but with such a small playerbase you`re bound to have some pretty wild market gyrations as food prices boom, then bust, then boom again as younger players naively think they can restart on the right side of the market and then ultimately end up on the wrong end of the market again once their empire is actually developed.
The sad fact is that agriculture terrans end up being a victim of their own success if one of them get too big for the server, driving out all other food makers besides themselves. And once they eventually call it quits, prices then just shoot straight up, making the situation very bad for terran and viral taxers for many months on the TB servers. |
AshyLarry 99+ day(s) ago | EvilAbadayos saves the day with straightforward and accurate explanations! |
EvilAbadayos 99+ day(s) ago | for started that idea is flawed by 2 things I can think of off hand:
1: 2 Billion cap limit on the amount of food you can hold
2: If food is at 5 per, you cannot post freely at 12 per, the highest you would be able to post at is price + 5, so 10 per. Still double your money but still.
this also leads nicely into this point:
Food returning after 48 hours. If you try to boost the market, other producers will just be undercutting you by 1 cred per food, making a wall infront of your of cheaper food, resulting in point 2 happening and possibly exceeding the 2 bill limit on those returns, thus loosing any food over 2 billion.
I for one don`t really mind the low food price. Sure I`m an agri empire, I make 2 mill food a turn, so even at the current 7 per, im making 14 mill creds effectivly, assuming it sells. Nowwould I like it to be at about 10? Sure would be nice, but I don`t need it to be up there to be happy. Hell I would be happy with it at 5 per as long as it actually sold.
The advantage of low priced food is the people wanting to start a new tax based non-guard empire have a real nice leg up to get started. This will result in, in the long term, more customers and a more stable price due to the amount of food being eaten is more closely matched tot he food being produced. |
FlashysDomain 99+ day(s) ago | I don`t see what the problem is...I`m a small postive food producer, so i`m not going to be directly hampered by High or Low prices. But the solution seems easy to me. When food gets to 4 or 5, buy and hold, sell when it gets to 12. When food gets to 12, sell the food you bought at 4 and 5.
See how easy that is? |
