  A `It Requires Stephen` idea  

I know I know this requires Stephen, but it would be a cool twist if we had a race (maybe collectives) who were able to build other races ships, but only for as long as they had them in their fleet?

Again, this requires stephen, so it wont happen. But still nice to dream now and then.

However, if you feel this is overpowering, here`s a potential mitigation: Establish a lower limit of ships or lower PR threshold that you must have in order to be able to build additional ships.

The default is 0 PR, but lets say we were to raise this to 300k pr for Lyth. This would mean in order to be able to continue to build lyth you must have around 10 of them. For pyth, we could raise this threashold to 500k pr.

Yes, as a collective I never really enjoyed capturing large numbers of Miner ships because they were so freaking expensive!!

Then again, if you got mad land and research going with food prices above 15, and making the top 3 or 5 on the server rich list to boot, it might not matter quite so much. But this is the exception, not the rule. ;)

And granted gradual, that would be one implication of my idea. However, it would also (kinda sorta) encourage stacking in collective since there is always that danger that the lower stacks would be destroyed but not get DP. Then the captured ships would be exposed and potentially destroyed.

And given how turn intensive collective ships already are, it would be really hard for them to pull this off with a large # of ship types for any significant length of time without relying heavily on stacking.

I enjoy spamming lyth aggro into gal spams sometimes, because I know that the poor coll will either have to disband or will just go broke ^_^

I think that would be a good idea for the Collective race it would make them harder to beat because there just food right now

only change i think could be justified is giving a -75% on upkeep for captured ships.
Collectives being half robotic have outstanding technology, hence can maintain their ships at lower costs.

i`ve disbanded lot of the miner/terran ships i`ve captured, just because of the high upkeep :s

I could see collectives also disbanding so that they only had one of each ship, keeping them under the top 10 stacks to have them readily available until they want to build up and hit, before disbanding back to 1 again. It`d effectively give them UW like rewards simply for capturing ships. With a bonus to those ships, then it would be even better than UW rewards. At least with Virals, they are restrained in their ship choices and can only have three of each race.

If it were possible, I think it would be a -20%, make them easier to kill, cause that`s all we need on the server is super lyths running around.

Not really, collective and viral already have a great degree of flexibility with their possible fleet compositions (viral more so than coll due to being able to build the ships, though coll able to cap many different types, more than viral).

It`s a decent idea for an NPC, but not for the players I would think. I could be wrong however

Or "captured ships get a 20% to hull and weapons" bonus.

And, for that matter, actually be able to modify the stats on captured ships to make them harder to kill (slightly), sorta like an "infected Lyth" or something.
