  Another random idea from MD  

Disallow UWs to have starbases.

Miners can`t use hoko/kyro/lakko
Terrans can`t use scorpians/chimera
Collectives can`t use Manowar
Virals can`t use chiron

Interestingly enough, if this suggestion is seriously considered, it could make maru/coll more powerful UW races, and pretty much eliminate the huge UW possibliites that miner/viral currently have.

by the way, I am a practical man, I only suggest things if they are doable, so far...many of these ideas are impossible to implement

If you want to be more realistic the UWs defenses should weaken under multiple attacks in a short period of time.

Lets say if 3 empires attack within a 5 minute time frame the 2nd and 3rd attacks should face a weaker defense. Call it 10% weaker because of fatigue.

If no one attacks within 5 minutes of an attack the defense modifiers go back to normal.

A trade embargo wouldn`t work. It would kill any chance of a UW. Everything put into cash makes any UW dead except for sitting there having shots taken in a constant barrage with no means to rebuild. A few hundred MDs at the beginning of a UW, and you`ve virtually killed off any chance of rebuilding during a UW.

On top of that little problem, contributions to the UW can`t be made via buying up minerals. I`m not speaking of a coordinated effort...but I know in the past while I couldn`t do much to defend a UW, I bought like a fiend from the marklet to lend what support I could on that end.

yeah I`d agree that disabling SBs, while making UWs more difficult to set up, wouldn`t be a good idea to implement. The trade embargo on using the market does make sense, and if done, at least we`d never have another Wingnut incident during an UW, I like the idea of turning off the capture ability for Virals, maybe not Collectives though, but I`m not sure if I`m taking that from a `balancing UWs` stance, or just because I dislike losing ships to them :P

H/V vs H/V have not been fixed, lol.

Disabling capture would make collective UWs worse. I`d support that if it only affected viral UWs.

Also totally disable H/V class capture when you are a UW holder (attackers can still cap however, unsure if the capture bug with H/V class vs H/V class fleets has been fixed yet, it`s been 3 years).

Look into maybe some other options, I don`t have answers atm , but the proposed starbase removal isn`t it IMO

Well, that`ll be hard to code but definately an interesting idea that would nerf rebuild UWs. That being said, a lot of UWs succeed without having to rebuild, so it doesn`t make things that much more difficult imo, you might end up seeing less UWs...but more UWs at higher PRs.

Simple way to make a UW harder, as soon as the UW is activated, fleet upkeep is tripled and you are unable to use the market...after all you are blowing up the galaxy, a trade embargo would make sence.

You are correct, impossible is a strong word. But nevertheless, with people always complaining about how easy UW`s have become, this suggestion seems reasonable to me.

explore UW`s will always be possible, but they are very easily countered with historia spam to deny turns when below 500k

True, but I figure the rest of TB will stop donging about how easy it is to UW etc etc, at the expense of making explore UWs impossible.

Consequently, we could make it so that you can build maximum of 1 mil PR of each base, or something

if you eliminate starbases then you take away the ability of small empire to even attempt a UW. Currently they can try, get knocked down but build star bases in dp to get back above 500K power
