Hello everyone, it’s been a very long time!
Recently I got interested in web design and after reading up on some online tutorials, I decided to recreate my favorite online game, GC!

I added in some of my own ideas (such as player and federation avatars), borrowed some from anfit’s ff extension, and tried to make it more the game more user-friendly and more fun
I have no plans to make this go “live” because I know this is Stephen’s game and it will not be fair to him if I did. But then why did I go through all this trouble? This was a great experience in learning more about website programming and design (and I have no life)…
As of now, the game is not even close to being finished (I don’t know if I ever will). I still have the battle script, federations, capsule lab, and the overmind project to code.
I hope Stephen sees this and make some changes to this game, but I am not betting on it.

I used to play a few years ago and today I decided to see how the game was. I entered the forum and saw people still hoping stephen would update GC, and I thought "well, still the same crab... would be good if someone cloned GC"
Then I found this thread, haha. |

I`m actually loving the look of that. And for so little invested so far, it certainly looks amazing. I had been approached by another of our crew with something like this a few years ago. The same goes to you, as did to them: If you need help with anything, design, advertising, testing- Or post launch (If you go that far :P) moderation/administration, I`d be glad to be of assistance.

99+ day(s) ago | forgot to mention, if you are interested in learning php, you can go to http://www.wampserver.com/en/ and install WAMP (has apache server, mysql, and php) on your computer so you can practice |

first you need a good handle of html/css
-there are plenty of tutorials online, i would recommend http://www.w3schools.com
next you`ll need to learn some kind of server side language, i chose PHP since its everywhere and its free
-again http://www.w3schools.com is good source for the basics but i watched youtube videos by phpacademy (just search for him on youtube) to learn more advanced stuff..
you`ll also need to learn some kind of database system, i`m using MySQL and phpacadamy has a good tutorial on using mysql and php for projects
finally, if you want, you can also learn a client side language such as javascript (i`m using jquery to do things like auto-disband all stacks) ==> again w3schools has a good tutorial
best method to learn is by practice and by working on this project, i`ve learned a lot
also if you ever get stuck on something, you can always google for help and something will show up :) |

99+ day(s) ago | shame on you...you just showed how lazy these guys has been with this...please get this going!! i am stay at home parent and will learn just to help...i see 12 updates from this that should have happened here years ago...and the hell with "Fair"..see staff...i hope you do..all it would take is making this fresh like that and we would have hundreds active players...bet you get this up and make good money off it...like others have pointed out we would have more than 30 players in a month..main reason we lost players is no improvements...again shame that a rookie coder has done what players have begged for in no time. rename ships and lets roll with it!(again sorry Stephen and staff) |
