  Collective Race Hmm...  

PROS:

Collective race can be a thorn in your side on the battle field with a potential economy strong enough to set of UW`s. Like virals, it has 2 ships with chemical attack (if paid). Also it has one of the fastest build range 9 ships in the game. There are also 3 unpaid 100% capture ships!

Wow! Pretty impressive? Galleon is a feared ship.. it`s like a grandaddy broadsword. My personal favorite is brigantine because the assumption is I am leading galleons then you run into this chemical/missle power house. Ouch. Then after that.. gotta love just capturing all kinds of interesting ships. Well, the times the capture glitch doesn`t pop up and screw you.

So.. 1 - 3 just really decent ships and with enough patience and jacked up food prices, a very strong economy.

CONS.

Alas, I arrive and the reason I am making this thread. The most "con-filled" race of all.

When a viral captures a 11k Ularge, what happens? They look at it longingly then quickly kill the pop or plunder it. Useless it is (wish it wasn`t). Well that`s useless to collective as well. Viral captures 2 juicy C3`s from an Aminer and they are stoked. Just infect that SOB and milk that puppy all day long. Well that, too, is useless to collectives. 1 planet at a time collective must. Maru can use U class and clusters no problem btw. Hmm... so it must be the ships and ability to navigate the ranks (stacked of course!) effectively that collective race is hindered in such ways economically.

Nope! With only 3 unpaid ships having the almighty `No Retal` ability, only 1 with more than range 7 (range 8 makes having a truly effective 10 stack without capturing... well... impossible. You will have to use the easy to kill queens and kings with is just a gamble.

Maybe I suck at battling, I don`t know how to stack, I don`t know how to spam properly, say what you will flame on. Psh. This race was created with good intentions, but it is a bit too complicated with "stephen programming."

Gal isn`t overrated, it is misused and easy to predict. It`s damage and range are solid. I don`t think the Corsair is bad, it just has a high amount of risk in it`s use. The Snow I have never liked, but it has it`s uses. I don`t think adding more capture to our arsenal is a good solution to what you all see as problems. If you really think something needs to be done I would say another ship is the best option.

Eh. Colelctive to me is a low power race. Stack correctly and you can dominate anything and everything under 2mil power if you catch them off guard before they smack you. Also lrn2 utilize Neutral Ships. They can help you out significantly on defense... if you can afford the wait on some of the poor buildrates.

hey what is this bug is it something like you wipe theyr stack and get no ships

well i think its perfectly normal how do you capture a ship when its already blown to dust?

Maybe it`s my not playing the slimy collective race in a long time, but if you already have issues capturing ships, why would you want MORE ships with capture ability that get screwed by the capture bug and cannot be useful?

I vote for A! We could do with a new ship! Preferably one that doesn`t build 10k pr per turn... and we don`t have a ship that has no retal but no no defense yet...

My argument is collective IS a good race, but the way it is designed is for a place with no capture bug :)

SO, considering the capture bug will never get fixed....

I am wondering if everyone thinks it would be fair to either A) add a new ship (unpaid) or B Improve upon ships we already have.

I suggested a few changes in an previous post, but adding 50 - 100% capture to either sloop or pinnace would be good too!

Course, it has a no defense special... which makes it worse than lyth... but collective is still awesome. :D

stacking defensively is wasted when it loses to a spam on careful :(

any defensive fleet is flawed if you have no idea which race will be attacking you

Lol. then u aren`t stacking right. and ya, gal is WAY overrated. it only ever works against newbies or people that u just get lucky against. at least, if your spamming it. fixing the capture bug would be nice, though.

Will I have tried stacking as a coll. and guess what it always end in total failure, while a week ago I left a small fleet that withstood about 5 battles with me either losing 1 planet or ending up as a fail. Pretty much I widh they could upgrade Coll. ships sp that they can stack or at least fix the capture bug. The only ships that need to be fixed are Cosiar and Snow I have tried them and I even postioned them in different spots, but they always are the first to die in the first battle. I really don`t care if the mineral usage go up for them because for me it takes about over 100 battles to use up about 100k of minerals so yeah. So this is my currrent opion of the coll. race.
