Ragnarok 2011-03-28 | | Lower Class Ship Review | | I think the following ships need a review and a complete overhaul by the admins, or justification as to why are good as is and explicit explanation of what their exact "role" or justification of their use in any fleet out there.
M.Hal Light fighter-drone Light Corvette M.Alium M.Illite F.Axe Light Frigate C.Gemini C.Aries T.Ryu-jin ( actually a pretty good ship, but still under used) T.Maru P.Apollo T.Sentouki P.Odin
Eel Manta Ray Piranha
C.Taurus C.Cancer F.Spear C.Leo
(last 4 added just for good measure since these are also underused ships)
If you notice, these are most of the ships that are either under used for one reason or another. We need to review WHY they deserve to stay as they are. If any of the ship building artists (the admins will actually LISTEN to and actually know what they`re doing) would be willing to take a look at these ships and remake them, that would be a great help to the game.
I think neutral class should be the class every race can use to balance out whatever weaknesses they have in their overall ship structure. A good neutral class missile ship is also lacking as well. Maybe one of the "under used" neutral class can be revamped into a missile boat that EVERYONE has access to. |

Mazuku 99+ day(s) ago | A seperate ships list for RT and TB is probably the best Idea thrown around in here.
Although in my mind I see the small ships like fighters, covettes and maybe frigates as the "Factory-line mass production ship." Where fighters should have the fastest build rates in the game and then corvettes would be the next fastest and then frigates. Their stats would be curved accordingly. Trading quality for quanity in a sense.
Destroyers and crusiers should have the slowest builds as they are somwhat specialized because of their high range.
Capital ships would remain the same.
All SBs would be long range like hoko but have a slower build rate because of their large size and complexity of construction.
Thats just my completely unpractical idea to the ships system. |
MajorDinero 99+ day(s) ago | Sib, if stacking was the norm, no one sitting high would have to arrange much to make a stack :P |
Sibiriangun 99+ day(s) ago | This would seriously favor the ones controlling the ranks as they have plenty of time/turn to sit up high and arrange a stack. So i dislike the idea very much.
One thing that could be done to encourage stacking is to ensure all stacks actually get to flank in a battle. I have often hit spammers with a 10 stack (or spammed a 10 stack) only to see in the battle report that the battle ends before my/his 2-3 lowest stacks get to fire in round 2. I dont know if this is a bug in the coding or simply a part of the battle, but this is what I find the most discouraging about stacking. |
Darkseid 99+ day(s) ago | I have already suggested this thing before!
Basicly
spams recive -% to dmg
when even stacking gets +% dmg boost to random stack
how it works you ask?
simple its a UC concept:)
10 stacks =100%/10=10% per stack
10-15%>5% dmg boost
16-25%>-2% dmg
26-35%> -6% dmg
36-45%>-16% dmg
46-100%>-30 dmg
Ideas? this stuff can be tweakt lol |
FistOfNoRemorse 99+ day(s) ago | make it against the rules lol |
UberPansy 99+ day(s) ago | It`s not that sad, most people take the easy route, I mean it`s not against the rules or anything. |
elemental 99+ day(s) ago | the sad truth is, probably a lot of that are supporting stacking do a lot of spamming. |
WhatIsTheMatrix 99+ day(s) ago | Okay MD So what about when the Chlor is NOT being spammed? Like Thor and Fenrir and Epidote and Illite and nearsabouts EVERY OTHER SHIP, its pretty tough. Spams kill lots of ships in lots of stacks... plain and simple. So.... Why dont you place your flankers higher up in the stack. Or at least have some support flankers like Calcite, zeus, odin, etc.... |
UberPansy 99+ day(s) ago | I just found it extra hard to read when I looked at just after I`d woke up :p |
elemental 99+ day(s) ago | i think its a good idea, but then again, im a collective, and most of our ships are low build rate. =D |
Freelancer 99+ day(s) ago | Yep no-retal capital ships encourage spamming. i hope this color blue works for you Uber lol, i perfer to type in normal font color generally. I prefer to blend in unless i feel the need to stand out.
But he is a concept remove No-Retal from Capital ships & only give it to the slow building baby ships lol, it would sorta turn the game upside down but fix its self maybe lol. I doubt anyone would go for that idea. |
MajorDinero 99+ day(s) ago | Yeah, that`s why...at the risk of imbalancing the game to make spamming less powerful, I think that admins can seriously consider giving all ships below a certain build rate (14k/turn or so) automatic no-retal. |
UberPansy 99+ day(s) ago | Freelancer- Blue font isn`t working, could you try another color?
MajorDinero- while it`s true that Chlor will die to some spams, that is true of many many ships. I think it`s a major flaw in the game, and it directly encourages spamming. |
Freelancer 99+ day(s) ago | @ MajorDinero - I totally hear ya on the stacking part & the whole spam like Lyth screwing over smaller ships like M.Chlor / M.Epidote in the bottom stacks, that crab pisses me off enough i stopped using M.Epidote all together unless i need it for something special which is rare its only useful for an energy spam.
@ VeniVidiVici - Your not my favorite person in this game but that idea is good and do-able probably, but Stephen we all know wont do crab. But then again Stephen would probably have to search though alot of code & make sure he gots it all covered from mistakes or crashing the game lol. Probably explains why there hasnt been any hard coding done to the game in forever. Also i wonder if he`ll do the same thing to 3800AD that he did to GC, make it, make money & leave it without updates/upgrades & forget about it like he did GC. Hm maybe im in a crabpy mood cause i argued with my girlfriend this morning... oh well i can only hope for small ship improvements but they arent a priority it looks like. |
Sadistic{}Interns 99+ day(s) ago | Eel
Manta
Ray
Piranha = really bad ships that are never used! Waste of space and time.. |
MajorDinero 99+ day(s) ago | Matrix:
let`s say I have a full balanced stack at 10 mil PR, with chlor being my 10th stack at 1 mil PR. Having that amount of chlor would take around 75 turns to build, right?
someone can just come along, spam 200 turns of lyth (which would be around 130% PR of my 10 mil PR full stack) whatever - and not only will they kill my top 2 stacks...they will also kill my chlor as well.
depending on how I stacked, I probably just lost way more turns than the guy spamming did.
therefore, even if I won the battle due to stacking, I still lost |
WhatIsTheMatrix 99+ day(s) ago | Chlor is also a lethal ship. And Axe is a tad underrated then Aries. I feel the ONLY fix needed to the Aries is higher build rate. And You can fix the Axe by increasing its weapons just a hair in relation to its pr. Leave build rates and defense stats the same and you have a very capable frigate.
And Chlor? Chlor chlor chlor.... hmmm... Only add -10% defense mod to kinetic. 600 missile and 1841 pr. everything else leave alone. |
VeniVidiVici 99+ day(s) ago | isnt there a way to create individual ships for tb and rt? i know its a looot of work, it requires ste probably, but can it be done? |
UberPansy 99+ day(s) ago | Deamon666 - tell me you`re trolling us. Also TB experience or invalid opinion.
Crack - thors and zeus already have no retal, and if you meant chlors well those are broken on TB anyway so no buffs. |
FlashysDomain 99+ day(s) ago | C Aries...most underrated ship on that list. Slow build rates, excellent mid stack ship. T.Ryu-jin and F. Axe is right up there, but just a smidgeon below a C. Aries (Sorry Matix and Boudicca..but fact is fact :) |
