What would be the ideal ships for a viral on normal server to reverse?

Thanks,
It just shows even vets forget when they been off spacecrack.

Thanks for everyones comments =)
Just wondering why no one suggested G.lictor... It`s quite an impressive ship with exception of range however the +40% make up with that i feel. But then i suppose it is very similar to the herc.

My experience as viral as long drowned in that abyss ...

Pyth, Tiger, Pike - preferrably my tastes, depends if I am tax viral or comm viral.
Arag, Lyth, Chlor
Herc, Tyr, (again preference, if tax you want capitals for max pr difference so nirv in my opinion, though I could go thor, replacing my tiger with shark), again my preference that i see these days.

Add to the first line of my previous reply that its among the miner ships that lyth is only used by viral.

Maybe we can have 6fleets instead of 10.. Then people will learn to stack more.. Lol..

It is my experience that all the ships, but lyth are rarely used as anyhing but a heavy dummy. I often make a 2, 3 og 5 ship spam. Then i like heavy dummies with 8+ range like chlor and epi, as people fill the last 5 slots out with these ships, as people can put in any runners or queens and kill my heavy dummies.

I also like epidote because you will then have 3 ships (pike, epi and broadsword) that can kill queen spams. Say your cap spam get killed by a queen spam, but you are not sure what position the queens are at anymore, but you really want to use your counter to kill the queens. Then having 3 ships that can do this is a great help.

I dont think there is a real need for a borr killing ship. The ship you build to kill it will be lost fast afterwards anyway. And you would often have to guess what position the borrs are at anyway, making them hard to use. Cap spam the borrs down. This will maybe not win the battle, but you win turnwise which is the important parameter at a slow server.

The maru ships that u can capture also plays a part.. Coz not many active maru on normal.. Then Remember to rev the ships that complement each other nicely.. To focus on juz pr and buildrate eg all caps ships will not be smart.. To focus on damage per pr eg. odins and so on will alao not be smart.. Balance is key.. Keep changing your stacks (once a mth will be good enough in normal server)

i used to go for offense in maru.. Defense in aminer.. Something to balance in terrans.. That was in rt though.. Ages ago.. When i could remember my 1st account password.. When viral just came out..

It all depends which type of empire you want imo

If you want to be a low pr fighter or n00bhunter you should pick destroyers/cruisers which build slow but have high range and good stats.

If on the other hand you want to be a high pr fighter and are not in a dominant fed (such as MK on slow for instance) you will need ships with better buildrates, as that is the most important thing on TB. Then you chose cap ships.

So for normal server I would go with

Herc, nirv, tyr
Pike, pyth, tiger
Lyth, arag, calcite/chlorite

I never liked flysch, only seems to be good in a big spam such as a UW situation where its tripple damage are useful. Otherwise it is a horrible ship, only good for a no retal flanker, and viral can chose much better ships for that. Tiger > cuda imo and I would chose it for my borr killing missile ship since it has way better hull than thor so it doesnt melt right away.

I never played miner, but just looking at the ships I would favor calcite over chlorite. Especially if you already have tiger. Calcite has way better hull, good missile shield and better buildrate which I think makes up for the slightly smaller range.

why would anyone pick calcite over chlorite?
Herc, nirv, tyr
Pike, pyth, tiger
Lyth, epi, arag

Flysch and/or arag will always just be a dummy ship to a viral, Arag got the best buildrate, 3 turns and you got a 100k plus dummystack... If you really want thor instead of tiger(higher range/dmg much less survivability) then scratch nirv as it resembles pyth and take cuda instead of tiger i guess. But yea tiger > thor imo, way cheaper and dont die easy

PistolPete, what`s wrong with Flych and why would you give argo, chlor or epidote preference over it? Higher build rate?

Would be nice to have more "guides" weigh in on this if they truly are guides, esp if they happen to be in a fed different from GK. ^^

I would see what fleets DM and Omegian have had in the past when they were viral and go with what they chose. Both have a ton of xp in that area. Then again, much has changed in the game too.

Do you need a paid to keep a paid ship for viral ?

Remember the slow speed of the turn generation. Should influence your choice. And of course the way you want to play. My suggestion is for fighting to control the ranks.

Terran:
Herc/tyr/nirv
Herc you must have.

One could argue that Fenrir or Thor would be worth considering. I would not go there. I got thor instead of nirv - but would gladly switch them today.

Miner:
Lyth/Chlor/Epi

Lyth is a must have. Epidote is nice because it kills queens. Chlor i chose because i never liked Arag - you may want arag instead.

Pyth/pike/(Cuda or Shark)

Again Pyth and Pike are must haves. The last one i would say is between barracuda or shark. Barracuda can be used for attacking and defenden against fez. Shark is very chunky and relatively fast.

In the end the ships you will be using in your big stacks are:

Pyth/herc/borr/cronus/tyr/lyth/pike

the rest is mostly usable for making heavy dummies. Thats why I like chlor, epi and cuda as they will win against fez.

I would take all of Chlor, Arag, Flysch, Epidote, and Chlorite before Calcite :p

Ideal ships to rev in normal for me will be..
Maru - pyth, barracuda and whatever u can get from dm or the few other maru.. (not missile)
Aminer - lyth, chlor and something to complement ur unknown maru ship.. (not missile)
Terran - thor, zeus and tyr..

U have at least 3caps ships.. 2 highest range missile ships.. Chlor and barracuda since most of the other ships i suggest have neg defense towards kinetics.. Together with borrs and cronus.. Kings and queens.. Broad and swords.. Nice..

Plz note.. This is my opinion on normal server only.. It also depends on the way u play..

yeah to my knowledge there has never been a way to delete reverse engineered ships from your empire, that`s why selecting your choices has always been a careful consideration for Viral empires...not that I`ve ever been one :P

You can restart your empire to delete reverse engineered ships. ;)

That would explain why i couldnt find a button to do it. But i do swear there used to be a button somewhere that deleted them somewhat hidden on the interface...
