OpvsDei 2011-01-06 | | ...HOME | | hey everyone,
If you have time and patience, have a look at this video about us and the planet we live on...now don`t jump to conclusion, i hear a lot of people say ``boring`` and ``get lost tree hugger`` and what not but i think its our duty as conscious humans to be able to communicate to the next generations about our past present and future on this planet. And I am aware for most people this subject aint something new but do you as an individual do anything to change your lifestyle and influence other lifestyles to make this earth a more pleasant environment to live in?!
I am aware many dont give a darn, you`ll say you live once and want to enjoy it, fair enough, but have a look at what is really happening to our planet (and i am not pointing out on global warming) and is affecting our very mind body and soul which in the end everyone should be concerned of unless u are a masochist.
So have a look at this free movie which is insanely well edited and filmed and tell me what you think. If i had kids old enough to understand, id be the first to show this to them and i think this would be a great movie to show in school too.
Cheers

FlashysDomain 99+ day(s) ago | What irks me, and which, under influence of strong drink, sometimes find myself drawn away from a party by the GF as I become more `energetic` in pressing my point, is when someone states that we, Man, have a right to "natural resources at the cost of extinction of other species. That point is always accompanied by the reasoning because we are "intelligent (sentient)", we rule by conquest the environment and Nature itself.
What supreme ego and gall for anyone to think human beings are sentient and aware ! There`s no evidence for it. Human beings never think for themselves, they find it too uncomfortable. For the most part, members of our species simply repeat what they are told-and become upset if they are exposed to any different view. The characteristic human trait is not awareness but conformity, and the characteristic result is religious warfare. Other animals fight for territory or food; but, uniquely in the animal kingdom, human beings fight for their `beliefs.` Those beliefs guide behavior which has evolutionary importance among human beings.
At a time when our behavior may well lead us to extinction, I see no reason to assume we have any awareness at all. In sum, we are stubborn, self-destructive conformists. Any other view of our species is just a self-congratulatory delusion.
It`s a sad, depressing negative view not only of Man, but as to the future well being of Earth as a habitat for Man, but breaking it down, it is what it is. |
OpvsDei 99+ day(s) ago | nice words sd..do you believe in adam and eve? cuz taking seeds etc to another planet and plant them is maybe exactlly how we got here...so maybe the theory of the Annunaki is correct lmao. just a thought.... |
ShatterdDreams 99+ day(s) ago | and should something alien from another world come in an attempt to sabotage our world we are the the first line of defense for all of earth to stop anything from harming it. because you just never know, space ninjas are every wheres... |
ShatterdDreams 99+ day(s) ago | paralyzed is far from being under the rule of the earth, taken evolution into account, we`ve survived multiple Ice ages, meteor hits, comet strikes, super volcanoes, diseases, hell we`ve even survived our own stuff..
the most redeeming characteristic about humans is our ability to cope and adapt, in all the dominant species there`s ever been that ruled for millions of years. we have ruled the least amount of the time, we are not the largest or fastest creature that lives in our time (not even close) we have no natural defenses, all in all as far as animals go we are so pathetic we shouldn`t have lived more than a few generations, but our brains help us adapt to everything that`s been thrown at us, and in less time than any other species we`ve asserted out dominance over this planet in a very short time.
sure we may be bad for the earth and all other organisms on it, because we are still young and ignorant. but all creatures were made to do be successful, to beat out competition and multiply we`re just overly efficient at it. though once we`ve aged more and gotten wiser i think we`ll be more of a benefit to all things native of earth.
one day we`ll leave earth, (providing no gamma ray burst annihilates the surface of the earth, and that we can figure out how to leave our own solar system within the next 2-4 billion years.) we`ll take creatures plants germs ect. with us and seed new worlds. and in time when this solar system dies own, so long as humans survive else where, the decedents of those organisms we brought with us will as well, so we may very well out live our planet. perhaps even our entire galaxy.
of course we are a hindrance on this planet atm, but in time perhaps in time we`ll start seeing ourselves at the benevolent caretakers of our world. |
OpvsDei 99+ day(s) ago | well you can see at as you want, everyone got his own opinion. i am sure of what i am saying atleast, didnt work in nature conservation for nothing lol and yes, nature itself is not always perfect and there is always a fall out at some point...but you are right. off topic and lets get back on the line...
For the children FTW, kill the vaccines, open their minds and save the planet lmao |
Slavyzz 99+ day(s) ago | Opus I`ll say I disagree with you and that your idea that species are in tune with each other is silly. I will agree that ecosystems try for balance, and sometimes for great periods of time they come close. But anyone who understands how an ecosystem works (or any system for that matter) has to understand that there is some fall out somewhere down the line. Somewhere little errors are being made that are destroying it. It is the nature of nature so to speak. I`m not saying that lions are going out and slaughtering all the buffalo and leaving their carcasses to rot. That wouldn`t really make any sense since the lion hunts because it`s pride is hungry, not because it`s dang good fun.
But you know I feel like we`ve gone a little off topic when I suggested a different perspective to you guys and you two were hesitant to abandon the idea that Nature has a magical balance to it that makes things happen for a reason (which would suggest a plan of some sort). So maybe we should get back to the whole "making sure Earth stays suitable for us to live on" message that you kicked this thing off on.
FOR OUR CHILDREN!!!! |
OpvsDei 99+ day(s) ago | @slavyz - a system within a chaos? to us humans it may seem not balanced out and chaotic, but it is very in tune if u want it or not. simple fact, do we see a lion killing 10 buffaloes when it only needs 1 to feed its pupps or pride? no we dont. does a lion pride kill or abandon their weak or ill ones, yes it does, and it does so to maintain balance within their own system. you can apply this scheme to anything in nature. it might differ a little bit from one specie to another but at base its the same! also for humans it was like this, before we created civilizations and materialistic dependency, we were also in tune with nature at some point. take the bushmen, if yo have heard of the bush telegraph then you`d know what i am speaking of. telepathy and the ability to sense natural cataclysms like animals still can way before they bound to happen.
you say we created natural parks...fair enough...we try and fix and recreate but the balance is broken already. why do you think thousands of elephants and lions and what not get culled every year in south africa, they can not migrate, the balance once again is broken by putting up fences. yes, plants tend to overgrow other plants and kill them in that process but in some way or another (if they are indigenous to that area and not put there by humans) do so for a special reason, and this also comes down to natural balance. everything which surrounds us, including us, is a unique organism with unique tasks and characteristics.
lol @ SD love your post, however...little example, one small volcano spits fire and smoke and half of europe is paralyzed. Lmao, how are we the dominant ones? we simply are not, but we think we are. and i dont believe in earth creating us, but this goes into another discussion which is best not bringing up here. :)
but maybe u r right. we were ``created`` for a specific reason, maybe this is the way we need to go. is there a predefined path we need to take?
loving this thread :) |
ShatterdDreams 99+ day(s) ago | It`s everything fault for being made out of tasty things, or being linked to something that`s tasty, if nature wants to win it`s little war with humanity without destroying all other life then it simply needs to evolve into non tasty things, and then further more make it so we can no longer produce synthetic tasty things.
the earth is lazy it`s had 4 billion years to do what it wants and it chose to make us, why, so that we could dominate it. the earth got tired of being the boss and wanted someone else to take over...so now we are the masters. besides, there`s no need to actually try and kill us off, we can kill ourselves off millions of times faster than any thing the earth itself can do just shy of melting the crust.
so humans are destined to run rampant in the galaxy, as soon as we get sick of surfing the net and watching our 3 billion television channels and get back to work in our little science labs.
long story short, i skimed like 3 peoples post, didn`t watch the vid and like all people i filled in the rest with educated guesses and blind assumptions. Go humanity!
Earth=tasty=angry disgruntled earth... Earth + untasty modifier = humans with bad taste in their mouth going else where for their meal. |
