Hey...can someone please tell me what this ship is good for? Its the only ship i never use really, i don`t find it very useful or do not know how to use it maybe but having Arag Sword and Livid i don`t see why anyone should use it. It builds relatively slow, has a defense similar to other cap ships and is expensive on top of that.

Yes, BR I think is the biggest issue with Sapphire. Just increasing it from 1 per turn to 2 per turn would allow me to incorporate the ship into my stacks far more than I currently do in certain situations. It isn`t the best ship, but it`s useful when you need a ship with positive shields against kinetic and missile.

it was a very small amount of people who`ve created any ships for a long while, but again BW is on top the food chain for such things, which means you need to convince him.

SD...regarding the BR, does that also require Stes attention? `Cause if i remember well its a few players that created these latest ships...Leo, Sapp, King etc etc

well Atronite that`s been some thing that`s been kicked around for a long while, but honestly it requires stephen, and because he`s so ignorant of his own games he would botch it big time like he`s done in UC with several ideas...taken ideas and plans laid out in entirety and done w/e he wanted without regards to what staff or players wanted

though i`ve also felt as an added dimension to the game that when a ship out ranges another ship depending on by how much it out ranges it it should get more than one attack per phase before the other ship gets a turn. example... a 2 ranged ship vs an 8 range ship...the 8 range ship should get 4 attacks in before the 2 range ship gets an attack, each phase, and a 10 range vs a 4 range the 10 range should get two hits in before the 4 range gets one.

.. it would add more depth to the game, though of course everything would have to be rebalanced, lower ranged ships would need to have more hull or some other new bonus to counter multiple attacks.

though as previously stated it would take stephen, and would require a rewrite of the game...and i`m sure it wouldn`t go over to well.

yeah if the br of the sapphire was better i would consider using it as an alternative to the queens but with the current br i would rather build queens.

If you just Upp the build rate to 2 instead of just 1, I think it would make it a more competitive ship in uses with the flych and livid.

Personally, with a few improvements in BR and overall size, I think this ship could be more suited as an answer against heavily kinetic ships such as Galleons, Angel, Tyr and Herc spams. As is, esp on turn based, it would be far too turn intensive to use this ship against the above spams.

IMO, ships in the lower 5 stacks should receive a hansom attack bonus if they manage to flank ships, and an additional attack bonus on top of that bonus if those ships happen to be vanilla ships such as Sword or Garuda with no particular special bonuses. Of course such a fundamental change in the game requires STEPHEN, so it`s just a pipe dream like all else. =/

Anyways, Sapphire seems useful if you absolutely need a ship that has no retal to fill the bottom stacks, but until the build rate is improved there`s no way to really effectively use its positive bonuses against kinetic and missile against spammy type fleets (esp if they were of the herc or galleon persuasion). It will only be used in small amounts as a result.

well queens are more efficient in most cases but the thing is you`re not always going to make the pr you need with queens before you get hit on careful. just depends on what you want to do, but i think sapphire has it`s uses especially when it can win from under on some of the most spammed ships of course it depends on your personal building prefernces

yes of course it works nice as a flanker, but sadly most miners only think they have two ships in their arsenal, so usually stacking is out of the question, but luckily sapphire isn`t a bad spam ship either

of course i am all for upping the br on the Sapphire, but that decision is not solely mine to make.

@ SD: I am aware that saphire can beat lyth/angel on careful or withstand a careful atk from lyth/angel from around 130% :P

however, if you are attacking i`d be more turn efficient to simply use queens, lol. Hence, my remark that this ship is pretty much best used as a flanker.

would be interesting if the range was increased to 7...at this point, this ship is very reminiscent of a mini-ruby to me.

Thank you guys. I will try and use the ship in the next days or so considering what you said about it. I still think the BR could be improved making it a little more competitive however i leave that to the people who know more about ship building then I do... :)

use it on careful, it wasn`t meant to be a defensive ship, it`s a seek and destroy ship, you miners are so one track minded, oh no`s we can`t do anything except wait to be hit...

if you want to play defense vs lyth or angel might i suggest arago perhaps lictor in the correct numbers


just so you know, sapphire on careful will win vs lyth from 70% angel from 65% and tyr from 75%..so it`s is effective...of course not always the most practical but it works

I see it as a flanker, nothing more. Range 6 is pretty laughable for a defensive ship, lol.

the ship was created to be a counter for angel tyr and lyth, which it does fairly well at, it`s also one of the rare miner ships to have positive kinetic and missile shields. honestly it was much more effective when virals had angels, but w/e it still works, though perhaps the br could be increased

If the Hull was increased to 24k-28k it would be a decent defensive ship for a.miner... its slow building and costly to build.... Plus i wouldnt mind trading 1-2k Kinetic Damage for some more Energy Damage ( 1.5k would be fair )
