mathchamp 2009-08-18 | | Defense modifiers - formula? | | I want to know the exact calculation that occurs with the defense modifiers (absorption shield, energy shield, ECM, ionized hull).
I`m thinking that the formula (excluding stuff like ship stance and things) is: damage = weapon(1 - shield)
Where: damage = actual amount of damage inflicted before ship stance calculations and the like weapon = the damage of the weapon shield = the strength of the corresponding defense modifier, expressed in decimal format (so 50% is 0.5). If the defense modifier is negative, then the negative number is subtracted from 1 (ie. adding the positive number to 1). So a defense modifier of -100% would mean double damage taken in this formula (weapon*2).
Please tell me if the formula (concerning only the defense modifier, not other modifiers) is correct. |
