  Defense modifiers - formula?

I want to know the exact calculation that occurs with the defense modifiers (absorption shield, energy shield, ECM, ionized hull).

I`m thinking that the formula (excluding stuff like ship stance and things) is:
damage = weapon(1 - shield)

Where:
damage = actual amount of damage inflicted before ship stance calculations and the like
weapon = the damage of the weapon
shield = the strength of the corresponding defense modifier, expressed in decimal format (so 50% is 0.5). If the defense modifier is negative, then the negative number is subtracted from 1 (ie. adding the positive number to 1). So a defense modifier of -100% would mean double damage taken in this formula (weapon*2).

Please tell me if the formula (concerning only the defense modifier, not other modifiers) is correct.
