  Update News

In an effort to keep you guys in the loop, here`s the current plans for GCC -

To Clarify: None of the balancing changes are going into effect on Classic (the persistent server you`re currently playing on) until they have been thoroughly tested after a round or two on the competitive server. This includes the two new races, the artifact changes, and the ship/economy rebalancing. It`s likely these particular artifact changes wont ever be implemented on Classic, especially not in regards to gordos. We don`t want to mess things up without ensuring things will remain fair during gameplay.

Currently on the development / test server we have an updated re-balanced ship list and an economy re-balancing in place. Along with the re-balancing there`s a few other things already added or being added:

Two New Playable Races
The Wayfarer`s - Lore / Info Coming Shortly - Ships / Income available on Test Server.
Dark Marauders - Lore / Info Coming Shortly - Ships / Income available on Test Server.

Minor Artifact Fixes
Minor Gordo - Will have a maximum effect of +20% of the planets maximum possible land. Clusters will be calculated based on the number of planets in the cluster x 1200.
Historia - Negative turn effects will be capped at -80 turns.
BTC/STC - Will be changed to instead increase turn generation rate for a short period of time. Two new artifacts (one rare and one unique) will be introduced that grant smaller immediate turn boosts.

Black Market Sell Option
An option to immediately sell excess resources to the black market at a several discounted rate. Useful for excessive producers or people in need of a fast sale.

Tutorial
The New Player Tutorial section will be added. More on why in a moment. This will also signal the long awaited return of the manual.

Numerous Small Changes
Including the first new fed feature to make being in a federation more interesting,
self name changes (on a cooldown) and profile pictures for empires.

Players wishing to test out of the new ships/economies are free to join at gccd.wrindustries.com. The turn rate is currently excessively insane.

The problem with doing that many server Certi is that it will dilute the playerbase too much and make each one individually far more boring.

Also, once the new stuff is set up, we need a marketing plan that includes us current players telling our friends, posting on gaming subreddits and discords, mentioning game in twitch steams/chats etc... to help draw players.

I like it, Certicom. Though needless to say: we`ll need enough fresh blood to keep the game from dying, especially if we split it up.

How about 4 servers:
#1 Classic Persistent (doesn`t change). Set some very public metrics for players that if it falls below the server will be ended.
#2 New Persistent server with some sensible limits on things like gordoed planets and that gets updated after testing on competitive server.
#3. Competitive server that resets peroidically.
#4. Combination of old turn based that also will be closed if it doesn`t meet published players levels.

If demand increases significantly for 2 and 3 you then consider more of them with different speeds and/or reset periods for #3

Well UI would actually list #2 and #3 first to direct new players to them.

We`re very honestly still not sure what to do about gordoed planets on the classic server. It`s likely folks will never give up their gordoed planets, even for the good of the game. We don`t necessarily want to force people into giving them up either, not interesting in breeding ill-will.

We are discussing some small diminishing returns on gordoed planets on the classic server in some fashion - there HAS to be some downside after all.

Apologies, I was trying to write up a bunch of things at once. To clarify, the artifact changes will not affect the classic server. They will only be in place on the competitive new server at its launch.

I also should have clarified - None of the balancing changes will be coming to the persistent server until they`ve been thoroughly tested through a round or two on the competitive server. This includes the two new races, the ship/economy re-balancing, and the artifact changes. Quality-of-Life stuff (Tutorial, Name Changes etc) will come to classic as soon as they are tested on the dev server.

That`s the thing xhalt, you shouldn`t have gordoed planets after a land size or be able to explore after a land size. Sure this affects me as well, but I can live with the handicap.

Will the artifact caps be the same? Will arti formulas change for fusing

& just FYI: I`m not making this remark to annoy very loyal players; I`m also personally negatively impacted, but am remarking in the light of balance.
I`ve been working on a nice gordoed U.Eden for quite a while now, so I`d also be negatively impacted by the change. My whole strategy of gordoing this one up until 100k+ so I can switch to housing is in shambles :-)

Yeah the op planets need sitting into clusters of there retrospective sizes eg 500k c2 into 3x c3 150k 1x c2 30k 1x c2 20k other wise you may aswell leave gordos alone

Everything except the limits on Gordos sounds amazing to me. I haven`t tried the new ships yet though so I can`t speak about that yet. I`m going to assume there`s been significant change since the Deathmatch.

To touch on the subject of Gordos I`m not a fan of limiting Gordos but I can live with it if that`s what people feel the game needs. I would like to suggest increasing the size cap though, to some point higher than what can be found by exploring. Either that or making it easier to create Gordos again as their usefulness would be seriously diminished.

Also Xhalt has a very important point about fairness that needs addressing. What of the existing planets which are already beyond that cap? To leave them would create imbalance and if they are being changed, how, and will those players be compensated in some way?

Not to put new players at too much of a disadvantage, I`m going to assume current gordoed planets will be split up as well, to follow the new gordo rule.
But since many players put many years in building planets like this, at the very least, I would suggest they can choose to either have them turned into clusters or multiple copies of a U.Fert/ U.Eden/...

Following the new gordo rule:
Gordoed planet would turn into:
a C1 if 1200 < X < 6000
a C2 if 6000 < X < 30000
a C3 if 30000 < X < 150000
multiple C3`s if X > 150000

or e.g. for a U.Fertile, have the owner choose to split it up in multiple U.Fertiles or turn it into clusters

& is it still the intent that this will be a new server alongside the `Classic` server?
So `Classic` will remain as the name suggests: `Classic`?

Thank you for the news update!

"Minor Gordo - Will have a maximum effect of +20% of the planets maximum possible land."

What with the already gordoed planets?
