Operation Death Match, Go!

For what it`s worth, I like the original idea SD had.

I`d rather see a test of skill in turn management/teamwork, rather than a series of `who has the bigger t.ryujin, or [insert ship here] spam. We already have RT/all the other TB servers for that.

I like Corsairs thinking too... like the Terran maru wars, or the A.miner collective wars. It would be an interesting DM.

If we had DM`s such as the one I mentioned in a below thread, then that would allow the game to hold them monthly. Basically means that there will always be competition to see who can hold the title for the longest. This will make people come back time and time again to try and improve on there previous DM experience and should potentially help in the maintaining of players. Death Matches back then were very fun and very competitive and I now believe that one of the key reasons why the game dropped off so much is due to no DM`s or Updates being pushed out in a timely manner. Now that the updates are rolling and DM planning is in the mix, I believe that this game has potential to pick itself back up.

Opinions would be appreciated.

Maybe do something crazy, like a DM that happened way before the game` supposed to start, like during the Maruader-Guardian War, or the time of the Kal-Zul, or something like that. You could choose one of them and move on from there.

I`d recommend having the Deathmatch`s setup exactly how they were then the likes of ChaoticNeutral, ShadowGlade, Blarg etc were around the game when Tregelen and Lothor were Admins.

It was a 4 hour deathmatch where the federation (consisting of 5 people) would strive to have the most planets as a collective group at the end. This is simple and effective as a 2 month long DeathMatch is A...far too long, B. Not everyone can play the game as much as some other people who are for example un-employed and can play 18 hours a day.

A 4 hour deathmatch will mean that everyone has a good shot at attending it and having a chance of winning it. Top three feds get a mention on the DeathMatch results screen, and a prize which is awarded to there primary account on a particular server (say for example their RT account). Those personnel with an account on all servers won`t get a prize for all servers, but the one that they nominate.

I feel this is the best way to go! As a part of the deathmatch, members of the federation can choose any race they like, less the NPC Kalzul and D.Maru. The combination that the federation determines will be the judge of things to come for that 4 hours of madness. During the DM, there will be a black market where everyone has equal opportunity to purchase minerals without the market being depleted. *This can be modified to make it more realistic as per normal in game operation)*.

Thoughts and opinions would be great, but I believe that this is the best way to run the DM, keep it simple, but effective. This was how it used to be done 5 years ago, and this was when the game had over 130 people online at any given point throughout the day. Times for the deathmatch could range between 4 and 8 hours, but any more than an entire work day throws a lot of participants out of the mix. Deathmatches are designed to be short and swift, not extended over such a long time period, defeats the purpose. That`d be classified in my opinion as a short term serv

there is only 1 DM server so only 1 DM will be running at any given time

when will it start if it goes ahead?

2 month long DM`s should allow fed switching (makes for interesting tactics with respect to spying etc)
Also DM`s should be near continuous, preferably with atleast 2 running at any given time, staggered to allow overlap. This could also allow for one to be used for balancing races and testing different dp times ;).

race should be terran, collective, guardian i feel those r the most different.. mabye collective terran and marduer

id say i welcome this to something different or offer 2 a month one race same and then perhaps only terran vs miner? meh needs alot of sorting

I posted my answer awhile back but I would like to add that in my oppinion why would I play the dm server non stop for two months when I can invest that time in my rt account. When its that long it seems more like rt on roids. Than an actual event. I think it should be fast and dirty getting empires off the ground asap with any playable race of their choice.
