UW pro`s and cons

I see many new players come and go after a few days all the time... if a tenth of them stayed we would have a much bigger players base and most of the current problems with gc would be eradicated.

I think that more of the players\staff should try to reaching out to the brand new players, give them a brief introduction to the game, make them feel welcome and accepted...... maybe if we could get them a free week long paid to get them started..... little things like this could make all the difference in the world.

Trying to attract newer player who have a much lesser possibilities to stay while pushing away old player who support gc all along? bad idea i guess.

We should come out with something which attract new player to stay while not taking things away from loyal players.

I`ve had an empire built since 03, you wipe out things I`ve spent years building with these ideas, I`m gone, others would leave, and I`d give this game a year, tops, before Stephen would bring down the game, since he`d be losing more money to have this game running than he`d be earning from paid accounts.

People periodically say ideas along this line every once in a while, usually people just starting up, backed up by those who`ve already done a UW, or those who race hop over and over. It`s like waiting for a guillotine to drop over the game. Thank goodness it`s been stalled out every time thus far when it comes up, for I do love the game, and would hate to see it ruined, like every other game I played back in high school. This is the only time I`ll post in this thread, and will no longer read or respond to it. *goes back to digging*

You should VALJA then you could finally fix your infra and dont have a bit of everything lol

And Augustine no one thought the game would be here now a few years ago

i propose we dont change a thing, some people change race every 2 days, some ppl dont do much infra. so why should ppl who spend a lot of time and turns lose the infra they have worked hard for. if you want to get your cash back up quickly after a uw then spend some turns maxing out infra. either that or use your cash to actualy fight the uw rather than sit back and cry about it. if everybody not supporting the uw actualy attacked it as much as they could it would more than likely fail.

we have a optimist thinking five years from now this game will even be around thats really unlikely

This idea wont pass.... its a CON CON CON / LOSE LOSE LOSE situation. This idea would only benefit newer empires and hurt older empires that earned what they have somehow. This game is made up of vets, if we lose our vets this game would die. Think about where all the money comes from, tax/commercial empires.

i guarantee if i was say BW or even myself with less than a 1/10th of his land I wouldn`t be happy to lose any of my hard earned land. The host fed would have to be immune to land loss for the idea to even have a shadow of consideration. However it would add another level of difficulty to UWing because there would be less out of fed support. As for closing the rich-poor gap the idea fails there and i highly doubt it would encourage playing of maru or coll.

UW`s should truly destroy everyone. Just hard reset the game after a UW.

I think it is an interesting idea with the loss of infra / arties. Land loss I will have to be against as it would be unfair for the unexplorable races. None of it would help the current issue though... old empires would still max out in no time... whats the difference if it happens in 5 days or 2 weeks?

But it would be interesting for the TB servers. Since the big feds controlling the servers would take the hardest blow from a UW assuming that they have the highest research/arti stores etc, so doing a UW might do more harm than good for them.

This would be the worst possible thing to happen for races that can`t explore. Giant effing no from me on this.

MajorDinero... IF i own this game, i know what i`m going to do with it to bring new players and keep old players happy at the same time... sadly... it`s Stephen`s...

i can see the winning formulas on other games that SFGC is too proud to accept.. all players are still a normal human being in RL... who`s going to admit that they`re not interested to win anything in RL? so what`s the different in any other game we`re playing?

i prefer solution that consist of a "shortcut" for new players to blend in... and at the same time, the old players would love to stay on without worrying that their hardworks being taken away... then definately i`ll stay on for another 6 years... as long i`m still breathing... :P

yeap, typical. You say you want to help newer players, and you say that you want to make the game a better place but in the end you are only interested in your own affairs :P

If we are to make everyone happy with a solution that is practical (read: something that BW can actually do). I vote for keeping RT the way it is, but making DM into a new server that is similar to RT, but will have a fixed reset date every once in a while. BW could make a npc UW once every month or something. I don`t know what you had in mind for DM BW, but that is my suggestion and I think that it would be a tonne of fun :)

IF he wish for a game that will be restarted every 6 months or so... he should stated since day one every new player signs in to play SFGC...

i signed up for SFGC coz i can see that i can build a legacy of my empire as long as i want...

i`ll be honest... IF i knew that SFGC will be restarted every 6 months, 6 years ago... i don`t think i`ll play again after my first 6 months end up... or the first UW i`ve encountered....

infact, i still pissed with backoff`s UW coz i`ve lost my max ore at that time... coz it`s not an easy task to achieve that... just imagine whether i`ll still play around when i`ll lose all my infra`s levels and arties...

i can say a lot... but does it matter at the end?

uh the whole point of a reset is to encourage newer players to join in on the fun.
