I can understand that virals a less technologically advance race (steals ships from the 3 races) cannot commandeer a guardian ship but collectives ships are purposely design to capture should be able 2 just think there somethin wrong with the game manual lol
Also ships cannot be captured in battles where both sides have ships with capture ability...

I believe it had to also do with , If a collective do a UW with many capturing-ability ships, Guardians are the race that can stop it without its ships being captured like the rest. Since Gaurdians in the manual are suppose to be the protectors of the galaxy =)
3 ships from terran, 3 from aminer and 3 from marauder.
don`t try to capture neutrals either that would be silly since you can build them yourself, and yeah what the others said here.

starbase cant be captured too..
Because some ships are uncapturable, Guard ships, KalZul ships, DarkMaru special ships, Neutrals, Strafez, V.class, Scouts.

I havn`t been around long but i would guess because its a paid race and Collective isn`t.
