SFGC Android App

Long story short, I got tired of playing on my phones web browser and I thought to my self, "An android app would be great." So I decided to start making one. It has a ways to go before release but I`ve made enough to give those you interested a little peak. It`s nothing special but should make playing the game much easier than the web browser version.

I hope to make the first release by the end of September. Questions, comments, suggestions are all welcome =)

@notorian I have a HTC HD2 and I love the screen real estate, I definitely recommend getting HTC.

an app for an iphone is a necessary evil. like having special schools....

@Mazuku yes other suggestions are welcome and yes I know that there is a very large iPhone user base, (as my exGF recently purchased once against my suggestions, perhaps that`s why she`s my ex lol) which is why I am considering porting this to iPhone OS once I have a stable Android build.

@ArchAng3l those are all very good suggestions for features and will most definitely be considered/added. I had already considered adding many of the features given with Anfit`s as I love them very much haha.

@Badwolf I`m glad that the staff is not against this as there was some talk in chat when I first mentioned it about it not going over well. As for PMs I feel that`s a very essential part of the game and will certainly be added.

@Hopeless smartphones are becoming more and more inexpensive these days and will only continue to do so. A smartphone will soon be an essential to everyday life. My intention is not to leave those without smartphones handicapped.

I am very happy that this App is gaining more attention and it certainly motivates me to continue its development. Any other suggestions are more than welcome.

some will take bus frm point A to point B...

some will ride a bike frm point A to point B...

some will drive a car frm point A to point B...

some will fly frm point A to point B...

heck... some might even walk frm point A to point B...

and my point is... you still reach point B frm point A regardless whichever way you choose...

of course there are advantages on each of the choices.... but it will depend whether you want to stay stagnant or improve or even improvise...

whether pc or iphone or android... it`s time to move on and evolve...

Well upon relooking and talking to some staff i dont see any real issues ( be sure you can read/reply to pm`s on there as well :P)

only real issue i have only really apply when playing in front of a pc itself..

ooohhhh... this is a good news... it`s time for me to shop for a new hp... anything that can make SFGC easier to play while on the move will win the "tender"... ;)

Thanks meta for considering the iphone version.. the more user we have, the better for gc :D

i`ll have an android phone this thurs, so this app is a really good news for me :P

Features:
vibrate the phone when reach max turns (with option to switch on and off this feature)
vibrate/alert user when empire got attacked ((with option to switch on and off this feature)
vibrate/alert user when a selected empire comes out of dp (good for countering :P)
A similar version of "building very fast on ranking list" of anfit`s addon.
A big button for pressing research or dig. make it easier to press since we might need to press this button a lot of time :P

Of course all above features needs to be approved explicitly by admin in case they view it as unbalance features. those personally i love to have the above features to make it easier to play gc on a smaller screen and an advantage of always staying connected to gc through a phone..

Constantly connected and getting alert is a growing trend is smartphone, especially in gaming wise on phone. Hence it will certainly attract new group of gamer on phone to gc if the app is roll out and we do some advertisement.

Also Meta, those look really good, if it works well, like full game functionality, I would pay/donate for that :)

(assuming I have a droid at that time... still trying to talk my boss into giving me one LOL)

Thanks Seventeen. Arch I`d have to look into porting to iPhone sometime later. As for the flood of users coming in, that`s what I`m hoping because as Collective I need more planets to assimilate >=) *Evil plan*

it`s a good thing for gc... if u can make both android and iphone version, and then let gc do some advertisment, maybe there will be flood of user coming to gc :D:D:D:D
