Okay, so I'll just make another thread for this as well because the other one got too long and I want the focus of the other thread to be on those who HELPED me, not MYSELF. I'll try to keep this as short as possible, without rambling on for too long.
My GC journey started 5 years ago (2005). I've quit the game twice now, so this is technically my third time playing seriously. After all these years, I have to say, the thrill of UWing and the strategy required on TB servers is one of the main reasons why I have come back and stayed for so long this time around.
I joined fast around a year ago, and it was the last TB server that I signed up with. Sometime after my first fast UW, I made plans to go as a maru/coll three times/terran three times. The idea was to end up with an empire with the best ships in the game (on a per PR basis) and use it to have fun stacking. Stacking is one of my favourite things to do in the game, but I've always found it tough to stack when there are broken game mechanics such as high base PR for taxers and the cap ship spamming. So far, I've managed to collect the lakko/pyth/gal, which I am very happy with. So why am I retiring now, instead of trying to fulfill my plan and do another 2 collective UWs and 3 terran UWs?
Well, I start my first year of medical school in a few weeks time. I live in Canada, where medical school is supposed to be very challenging. So in the best interests of my future patients I think it would be best if I stopped spending all my time trying figuring out how to optimize my turns and UW successfully. And truth be told, after successfully UWing with some of the hardest races I think that I have accomplished everything this game has to offer.
