the market and gc

Gc has a market? Nobody tells me this, I`ve been sitting here trying to figure out how to make my guardian empire self sufficient...guess i don`t need that 100 levels of mining eh =/

it`s not hoard because i don`t keep it at that high...i only start from there and i won`t replenish it again until it goes down to 1 mil or lower which will take about a year, maybe less just depends on what i build. now if you`re constantly buying more minerals to keep it at a comfortable lvl then it could be hoarding.

Shattered, Ottoman: If 30 mil per mineral isn`t hoarding...then I cannot make the claim I did. I figure anything over 10-15 million was reaching that level. 10 mil for buying and trying to make a killing, and 5 mil just for persoal use. Unless ther`s a UW about to be set off. And Otto...after that last hit against me, I`ll show you "active` ... we`re gonna have to talk there soon. I got a nice lil` ol` breakfast meal of Thors and Nirv`s I`m gonna be serving up to ram right down yer throat ....... <g>

Flashy, what can i say man, but the problems will be consistent, we are going to see a lack of minerals for some time, we need some active members and not people who just make their "stockpile" so to speak, and perform uw`s faster than anyone else.

i`ve been at max credits for a while now, i don`t hoard, i don`t keep over 30 mil of any minerals and i`ve been wasting 100`s of billions of credits maxing loyalty on my borders, digging and building since i`m losing no cash what so ever....and it`s no big deal..

there`s only one reason to have over max cash, and that`s to UW if your not going to UW there`s little reason to store up credits. if you don`t want your turns wasted then pick your most expensive cost/upkeep ships and build up into the ranks for the heck of it. there`s only two people on the rich list that can`t explore and that`s lord and myself...(i know there`s plenty of other high planet people hiding their incomes...but this pertains to them too) so keep coming out of dp for as long as your on line and build fleets. it is a war game after all..

another accomplishment that would be more daring and more impressive than having max of every resource would be actually exploring a c3...or at least trying...it would be an effective way to lose your cash.

Hoarding is necesary for some races, for instance as a terran, if i wanted to go up and knock down kraven at 1bill pr, i could not achieve this with max cash, max cash would get me to about 500mill pr, i need 2-3 trill to bring a decent fleet to 1bill pr. but really anyone who needs minerals just needs to watch the market and you can get as many as you would like, if people are able to "hord" minerals to max, for surely anyone else can find a few million if not tens of millions of each.

Speaking as one who probably is the target of some of the comments...not specifically but as someone who buys everything that is put on the market, the problem I have is max`d cash. A Reset is going to do nothing but pi** me off ... that would pile on the lack of attention given to a paid account. Which is weird because as I grew up, the paying customer was the one you listened to as they are the ones giving you money.

Bring out something else I can spend the cash on. Maybe a ship which is one heckuva ship, but costs a ton to put in your fleet. I know it`s silly, but I don`t go high PR and waste money with a humongous fleet because the few times I went over 20 mil, I stayed of of DP for days, and there were few to battle. And every turn I did cost me money...which making money to spend is what it should be, not losing money because you have too much.

I max`d my research, max`d my cash, and now aiming to max minerals. After that...I`ll figure somethig else to spend on. BTW...I may hoard, but I will post on the market if someone really really needs something posted up there. Just PM me and if I`m on, I`ll send some up. Why don`t I post minerals now? because if I do, I can`t use the money and the low prices I would post at would kill those who need the income from selling production.

Answer is simple...give me something to spend on. Not have me do something (re: High PR) which forces losses upon me...

What flame said is very true...many rich mineral miners just run outta ways to store their cash. Hence they can`t really post more stuff. Solution: More UWs, and more server resets with soft infra resets as well.

My problem with posting minerals is that any money earned from them is wasted as I am at max cash already. But I do post them from $1 to $100 periodically. It appears to me that the purchasing empires are all mature empires and most probably hoard them. I see no other solution to this issue other than me (and other empires like me) taking the hit to aid the server.

I think Pirate meant with less resources on the market, there is less new empires sticking around to play the game. Economically the game has gone down hill, personally the blackmarket helped but it killed off the need for minerial A.miner, tax a.miner well they are out there, plenty of food to go around too. Goods Producing A.miner is a lost art cause its the least profitible and requires the most work.

I say bring back the black market, just this time put up more post but less supplies. Force the market to stabilize and prevent it from drying up.

u won`t be relying on market for minerals and consumer goods since u`re making them..
food is cheap at $9..
ships are more defensive..
with the current market at it is, u`ll be rich more easier..
