Think i`ll finally bugger off if this continues

I don`t appreciate you speaking to me with such a tone, I am not your little buddy, nor will i ever be. I will not discuss such matters if you are going to be rude. I only argue with those worthy of my arguments and you just proved you are otherwise. So I was wrong on a few matters, it does not give you the right to think that you are better then me and talk down to me.
N nedflanders
lol I didn`t even get a 10k fert.

I just proved you wrong and you say that the details are beside the point. OH YES the big picture argument

Tell me, how much does the big picture matter when the 10k reward planet gives me less than 10% of my current income hmmm??

keep playing cute buddy, you aren`t making any sense.
H HoneyBucket{HH}
ned those details are besides the point.... as in for that situation that fert might not have helped you much... however that doesn`t mean that it isn`t much help at all.... your view is through a tiny peephole and you cannot seem to grasp the big picture.

*smashes the big picture atop ned`s head

HB: you realize that milios was at base and all I needed to do was base up and poke him with 1 fodder right?

If I just explored like 50 planets after my UW and stripmined ore etc, i coulda raised enough funds to hit milios. the 10k didn`t do anything to help me lol...you are right this debate is getting tiring, O.o

It`s incredible how much you can accomplish if you think before posting...or at least ask some questions to understand the situation before jumping to conclusions.
H HoneyBucket{HH}
But ned... the reward planet gave you income to start with, so that you could afford to attack milios and get those nice planets from him. This debate is getting tiring.

*pours shots and makes a toast to gc and everyone whom plays*
everyone is welcome to a shot, as long as you are of age please take one.
V Vicious
Ignorance is running rampant here!
N nedflanders
lol so someone finally brings this up.

I captured nice planets from milios. My income wouldn`t be half of what it is now if it weren`t for those planets.

The 10k rewards give me less than like 10% of my income right now lol :P
O OttOmaNS
LOL....... this convo is too funny

grantweep. 82 days after UWing you are showing up as the second richest empire in the entire Normal server.

SD: if you think that the point of TB is to spend 3-4 years building an empire to play then I can understand your point of view. However, I have to point out that your viewpoint is problematic for a few reasons. Mostly in that it ignores strategy and that it further alienates new players to GC. If you think about it, the TB servers were probably really fun when things first started because everyone had an equal chance become the most powerful empire. Good luck being the most powerful on TB nowadays.

If people aren`t motivated to play then what not-smart would join this game? And yeah, artis AT LEAST should be affected by UWs. Infra should too, perhaps not to the extent of a hard reset, but perhaps a few levels or turns worth depending on the server (had this idea pitched a while ago with it recieving some support from the game staff.

Problem with minerals is two fold

1) Game mechanics...people store money in the form on minerals for fear of a dinero attack. Not helped by Stephen`s recent "let`s give the server a million MDs event"

2) Economy...supply and demand. Some people just earn money all the time and never fight or do anything. They spend everything on minerals hence screwing the demand side of the equation.

black market isn`t the situation, it`s addressing either of these `causes` of the problem that is the solution. Either make artifacts that affect % of your stored minerals (just like MD`s) or reset the server more, so that the people in example 2) hitting max creds don`t keep on overloading on mins.
H Hopeless
And if theres such a shortage of miners, don`t whine, do something about it! Go mineral miner today!

see that`s the problem, instead of looking for solutions (like the black market) people always reply like you did.
Maybe I (or other new empires) do not want to go mineral miner. Yes eventually there will be minerals, but lots of incomming players will not stay around to look for them. They see they cannot build any ships and leave to never return. I had to look for 2 days to find enough minerals to build a 100K power fleet. It was worth it as I got free DP and can now explore for planets cluster and get my own minerals.
S Seifer
Did I say that? No, I just said that there ARE minerals on the market. Market being empty has little to do with keeping new players around, as there are ships that require no minerals to build - usually the races` starting ships.

And if theres such a shortage of miners, don`t whine, do something about it! Go mineral miner today! =D
H Hopeless
Seifer, you obviousl think I don`t look at the market...I`ll tell you this,,,you have NEVER had minerals on the market for hours at a time while I was online. Also, if you think the way to keep new players around is to make themcontinually update and look at market,, then you have zero skills in mass marketing
S Seifer
to those who whined at the market, *looks at hopeless, i`ve had minerals sitting there for hours at a time before someone buys them. it`s your own fault for not looking at the market at all *shrugs
G GradualIncline
wow, some of the junk I`ve read in this thread, wouldn`t happen to be able to shut this down huh?

Anyway, I`ll just say thanks to the staff for everything you`ve done, and yet to do to help keep this game going and interesting. Anyone who knocks the staff, be quiet, you don`t have to put up with what they do.

Other than that, there`s not really much worth reading in this thread, other than a bunch of people venting their spleens and stinking up the forum. Hard resets wouldn`t be worth the players it would drive away, especially since said players are the backbone of the game. I had an empire less than 50 days old pm me asking what to do since he`d hit the credit cap on RT, so I wouldn`t say that there`s that much of a gap in power between older and younger empires in RT, in TB, as stated by SD, there`s been a lot of time invested in those empires, so yeah, they`re uneven, but you can still fight on par with them after you get set up, even if you don`t make as much, or have the arties they do, and so can`t fight as long as they can.

I`m sure other things were said that I could try addressing, but frankly, it`s not worth the effort of rereading this thread to try to find it. I still love this game and want it to continue, everyone who thinks it`s already dead, and come on just to complain, go away, you aren`t helping anything.

*gets ready for RL work*

reset.. zzz.. what have they feed kids these days.. zzz.. DuNg?? zzz..
a game to even out juz becoz some start earlier.. will be unfair.. if everyday gc attract new player (i said IF) everyday reset??

why not a proposal.. one will not be able to comment on the forum if he either don`t read the past 1 year threads or has played at least 1yr.. (sarcasm)

a dm will suffice once awhile.. though if i remembered correctly it disturb the server..
U UberPansy
I understand where grant is coming from about the finger pointing, honestly I take offense when people show up and complain. You won`t get any sympathy from me by calling us GC`ers the problem, and then topping it off with the threat of leaving. Keep the blame where it belongs, if you feel that stephen is at fault then lay the blame at his feet.
S ShatterdDreams
that`s the point of TB...for slow development you get no where fast. if people do want to compete sooner then they should stick to faster servers...your right i am mainly an RT player but i also know that a hard reset on slow would drive alot of people away...some people have put years of work into getting to where they`re at and they still have years ahead of them.....honestly what about guards that have the k class there...is it right to punish them for invest 2 years into get Xe?

when people signed up to play on all servers they were never told that one day in the future everything they`ve worked for might be reset just because it might encourage some people to play because they may or may not have a chance to compete with the older empires.

you can`t just expect people to give up their empires, and maybe UW`s should have an effect on artifacts i wouldn`t mind that but aside from all those free arti`s from stephen people had to work and invest turns into getting them too.

and the only reasons i can see why turn based servers exist is so that people with little online time can still come on and play in an server that suits their play time...(which anyone with at least an hour to play every two days rt would suit that criteria) and for those that seek to have turns become more of a limited resource to add another lvl of difficulty

if there are honestly people who want to have a server that does hard resets then there should be precisely that...a separate server that gets reset after a period of time...there could be one with rt style turns that could take the place of the DM and one with normal-slow style turns..

as for being a self proclaimed intellectual, i`ve done nothing of the sort...the only think i`ve self proclaimed myself as is a hypocrite....and with that post by DarkGuardian you right that`s exactly the kind of behavior i was talking about but alas i can`t even hope to control everyones actions or this game would be completely perfect in
G grantweep
there needs to be at least a reset for artis for UWs and infrastructure needs to be affected slightly. I know it`s unfair to the veteran players that have stuck by GC for so long but you have to consider the point of view of a new player.

"take the time to earn your position, even on TB?" The problem with that is it will take 3-4 years of infrastructure research/trying things out etc for the typical beginner empire to begin to even rival the powerhouses that exist on servers. i mean we all know TB requires you to have patience, but 3-4 years? seriously.
