VM in the Top 5

gwn first of all, you have a poor attitude.

Second of all I have complained about vm in the top five several times over the last many years. And so have several others. It has been an ongoing issue. It effects more than just my mates and myself, it effects the game as a whole.

And I have every right to questions peoples actions and motives when it comes to something that effects this game, even if it only effects my mates and I, I still have every right to question.

You sit there and call me arrogant?? Read your own post. This is my business. I am minding my business. I am looking at the whole picture, it is you looking through a tiny little hole that is your perspective.

I am not crying uselessly, this is what you are doing by not pointing out anything significant, only [Removed] and moaning about it is none of your business blah blah blah... wah wah wah... i want my mommy and my pacifier... is all i can get from your post. While I am trying to discuss and possibly resolve an important issue.

Unless you have something worthy of discussion, something new to add to the conversation then please refrain from contaminating my thread with your BS attitude. Thanks.

lol no not really... maybe if i`m drunk or really hungry, than and maybe than I will make an exception. But it almost feels like i`m dressing in front of them or using the restroom. Feels like they`re invading my personal space. Is this uncommon?

And to those of you that don`t understand the importance of the top 5... The top 5 empires basically are subject to fedwar bonus by anyone. They can attack and be attacked from 200% above and can be attacked from 300% below. To control the top 5 and keep it as low as possible is a key element when it comes to controlling the ranks. The top 5 spots can be utilized to help one or two empires to keep numerous enemies from taking them down and taking control of the ranks.

When people vm in the top 5... it raises the pr of the top 5, and can entirely take away this advantage.

My main point is that people in vm should not change the game, other than the fact that they are not able to play. However vm`ing in the top 5 changes the game. Changes the strategy and tactics required by those still playing. If you don`t want to play that`s fine, take vm, but to not play and effect the people still playing is just not right. Yes it would be great if something was done by Stephen to change this aspect of the gamet, but let`s face it that`s highly unlikely. So for now we rely on players to play in a way that is honorable and respectful to other players.

But that`s just my opinion.

Also, I don`t like to eat food around other people, at least not usually, I consider eating a private affair and I feel that it should be done by yourself. Is that weird?

One more thing Arch... the tactic in general might be useful sometimes, but usually, at least on RT, is not useful. One example being the current situation, with kelti sitting in vm, with a fleet that is known to his enemies, with people waiting to wipe him when he comes out. He is delaying the inevitable and wasting everyone`s time. Including his own. When he could be playing GC, he is instead in VM with no turns. He could be fighting alongside you, giving us another person to fight against. But instead he is in VM with no turns. And occupying my mate`s time to sit there and wait for him.

It is rarely a useful tactic, at least not when the enemy is sitting there waiting for you upon your return. It is frustrating to see people not playing the game, for what I think are lame reasons, when we have so few players already.

Saga you are right, I am just a bit angry in general right now and this is something that particularly annoys me. Kelti is a good kid and I don`t mean anything against him as a person, I hope this thread did not come across as an attack on him. If so, then I am sorry.

Sibi, you got me, you are right, a few select times, since I have returned to GC.... a couple CC members have vm`d up high. It has happened rarely, and usually not to avoid being attacked, or as a tactic at all, it was due to other reasons in which my mates could not play at that particular time. And every time that I can think of it was for a short period of time, not 2-3 weeks and hitting vm over and over again.

Arch, you have some valid points, as usual. But I think you are missing some of the issue. Sitting up high waiting for others to climb is not the same as sitting up high waiting for someone to come out of VM. For one reason because you have to have a particular stack for the person in vm, which may not be the stack that you want.

Also, often you have to build up higher for that person in VM. For example I have had people at 300-555mil pr babysitting AM for weeks now. I would not have these mates up that high if it were not for him, they would be down lower and be fighting more often I assure you. So him sitting in VM takes other people out of the game, not able to really participate, because they have to babysit.

And sitting at high pr is not as bad for the game as those in VM. At high pr gives others someone to fight if they are able to build up. It`s a target, still active and able to participate in the game. Where the person in VM is a symbol of inactivity; and as I said takes other people out of the game to sit there waiting for their return.
