Cards books are fairly decent Hal, he has a lot of interesting ideas and concepts

i don`t like reading novels, waste of time in my book, why spend a day or two to figure out if you like something when you can wait for the movie spend 2 hours and decide if you like it. i don`t like wasting my time worrying with the imaginations of others when i still have my own imagination to explore.

i have a general rule of thumb if it`s fiction, not usually worth bothering with, if it was wrote while the USA was existed as a country it`s also not worth bothering about. I`m a cynical book person mostly cause nearly everyone in my life is a book hugging, novel reading, dog-earing, slave of the written word who`s spend most of their waking hours getting paper cuts.

go outside live your own life and use your own imagination, rather than having someone spoon feed you moderately descriptive passages from their own imagination that some editor has since butchered into obscurity, long since lost the pieces to, then glued the feeble fragments that could be found back together.

*goes to form an Author witch hunt and shouts burn the books* honestly think of all the small children forced to read in English class those mountains of books with their horridly disfigured fingertips from all the wounds left by all those maniacally malevolent malefic pages.

when I Wikipedia Orson Scott Card, It seems like he is a total a-hole as a person. Are his books full of propaganda?

Its a pity your too narrow minded to read it. It`s considered by many to be one of the best science fictions novel of all time. :-/

Earth Children series,(Clan of the cavebears), by Jean M auel, Wheel of Time series by robert jordan, The sword of shanara series by Terry Brooks, the wizards first rule, of course any and all piers anthony, some better than others there though

Read Foucault`s Pendulum by Emberto Eco. All the conspiracy of Da Vinci Code but well written and intelligent too.

As for science fiction I love the Dune series. Philip K x is always a good read. Heinlein - A Stranger in a Strange Land. H G Wells - The Time Machine. Clive Barker - Weaveworld or Imajica. Anything by Douglas Adams. Anthony Burgess - A CLockwork Orange. Mervyn Peak - Gormenghast trilogy. Verner Vinge writes some pretty interesting stuff too.

Orson Scott Card - Ender`s Game and all the following books in the Ender series are awesome. Just finished Ender`s Exile a couple days ago. BEST SERIES EVER.
Brian Jacques - Redwall Abbey series. Yeah it deals with talking animals and may be geared towards a younger audience but I still love them.
