That is the thing you have to play for 7 months before you even know 50% of the game! I was a newb for a long time, now im just a newb who knows the game inside and out

its not rigged for longerm players its rigged for people that like the game and will play it ... i can agree wih the rewards on TB since that would be riggin it for vet players since they can do it easier with what they know compared to someone who doesnt know 1/4 of what a vet knows but i dont think its rigged for long term players >.> everyone can put there time in if they cared enough to play >.>

TB is long-term build up.... however ya agreed its rigged for long term players for the slower servers and its even more rigged with UW rewards.

yup this game was built on long term play, your hard work on clicking- building up your empire, no fear of game reset. thats why vet stayed so long. but many vets dont like shortcuts (giving planets etc) which ruin aspect of long term play. it may constrict new player of chance but TB is about turn management, vets may be using their turns on fighting etc but you can use your turns on researching, empire building etc. in the long run you can catch up with the vets.

if you want to catch up fast. RT is the server for you, believe i max research, battled over 6K, max my gordo stock in just 7 months of play. if you dedicate your time researching i think 4 months will max it, tip: watch TV while clicking .

its fast, if you start by joining a strong fed. dont worry about math.

lostsouls I would also suggest to you that the timing was particularly unfortunate for anyone to choose to judge SFGC, especially on Normal server. Had you played at a different time (such as a year ago or hopefully a year from now) you would have had a much more positive experience.

If you check the recent threads, there is a debate currently regarding the very issue you mention (the ability for newer players to hope to achieve eventual parity with veterans), and several administrators have expressed a willingness to examine the issue and consider changes to balance the game.

I would suspend final judgment until that process works itself out.

Well I think we will all agree that the documentation available lacks depth and quality to some extent. It is one of the main goals of the game currently to improve such. Though personally I think all games, no matter the documentation, are best learned through other players. You will learn more from them than any documentation could ever teach, plus it is more enjoyable as you make friends in the process. So even though the lack of decent documentation is a problem, and should be fixed, I don`t think it is entirely necessary for anyone who really wants to learn and play the game.

I think that one of the most important aspects of the game is the quality of players. Are they willing and able to be helpful. Do they make good allies and opponents. Just my opinion anyways.

In serveral months on RT you can easily compete with anyone (while you wont have as much income, it makes very little difference above a certain level for battling etc).

On normal speed I would expect it to take a while for you to get enough experience to efficently set up an empire.

Just to put it into perspective 3 months of turns on normal is :
96 turns per day
31 days per month
96 * 31 * 3 = 8928 turns

on RT you get that many turns in under 20 hours.

Very good suggestion fuzzy. Also this game does require patience. It takes a while to get setup and be able to compete on a large scale, but after several months you are definitely competitive with the older players. Plus, as fuzzy said, on RT there are more newbies to play with and have fun as you learn and grow.

I suggest that most New players should start with The RT server, which is usually filled with all sorts of Newer Players. Turnbased servers are Usually for the more experienced that know what to do and when to do it, while limiting mistakes since having so very few turns available. Plus there are alot less UW`s on RT then the turnbased servers. For example ive played RT for years, then decided to try out a Turnbased server, They are almost like a whole new game. RT is so much more different then Normal, mainly cause the lack of newer players and mainly vets play plus the turn issue.

I`d advise that you give RT a try before leaving, then if you like it maybe 6 months down the road retry a turnbased server im sure it will be easier for you then.

I disagree with this. I am a relatively new player on the TB servers (less than a year) and I`m doing just fine...I think the biggest problem is just that this game is very unforgiving of errors that you make early on in your empire development. But as long as you know you shouldn`t be doing you will do very well. It also helps to be good at math for this game.
