This offer is nolonger available as it takes too long for the admins and I believe neither of us have the time to do it.

One of the big problems plaguing GC is a lack of new players. The first step to curing this is to ensure that the players we get continue to play.

As such for the time being all new empires on RT (Whether by restarting or new sign ups) will recieve 5k of each mineral.

As this is being run by me by hand to recieve your minerals you must PM an admin -- Preferably me!

Also as an added bonus if you introduce someone with your slave empire link you will also recieve 5k of each mineral when they request it.

For turnbased players --
Depending on how well this works I will extend it to cover the turn based servers.

grantweep nice list.

1.) done and bored
2.) never going to happen for me cause im not a people person.
3.) I already quit playing RT since the game play there sucks, i only play 2 other servers and im thinking of quiting another.
4.) i already got enough research and im still researching cause thats all i do on Turn base unless im building randomly which doesnt have a point.

Also some ideas i seen thrown out solves 1 problem and creates another.

@UberPansy i agree with you about that -x amount of turns from infra research, talk about
mutilation. Explains the comment above this one.
U UberPansy
I want to say that sounds sufficiently mild, yet motivating, but after seeing 3 UW`s in a week it could be devastasting too.
I think we need to hear less from people who are doing succesful UW`s, and more from the side you are seeking to motivate.

interesting...so in your suggestion: infra levels lower than 30 would be immune to any resets? I suppose that would also achieve the goal of being newbie friendly, lol. I`d support these changes, especially if Stephen starts advertising for GC more aggresively, so we can start to see more newbies join us :P
D Deiloche
Not too badly thought out there grant, though perhaps more something along the lines of exact infra levels rather than turns lost:

(capped to going as low as 30 for all servers)
-1 on slow
-2 on normal
-5 on fast
-10 on ultra
-50 on RT
U UberPansy
You would need to take a way a lot more turns than that for it to be a motivator. And if you took away that many turns, those empires would quit. GC is not a well balanced game, taping on these fixes will only create a gruesome mutant of a game.

Thanks Uber.

Grant, other games forcing you to reset is exactly why I don`t play those games.
G grantweep
good point with the gordos deil, heh. don`t wanna discourage ppl from actually buying paids.

If it comes to reducing infra I think a simple -x amount of turns from infra research would work best and fairest. That way, vets who have researched into the 2500 zone would have a `buffer` zone of infra and those with less infra will lose a lot more, but have the change to catch up faster.

Something like this might seem fair:

RT: -25,000 turns
ultra: -2,500 turns
fast: -1,200 turns
normal: -600 turns
slow: -300 turns

I know it`s a very controversial suggestion - part of the essence of what makes spacefed great is the fact that you can accumulate infra research/arties and never have it reset. However, many online games have the reset feature for a reason: it gives newer players fairer chance against the pros. You can`t obviously please everyone, lol....but face it:

Starting a new account on TB just to discover that people have been clicking away for 5+ years in order to get a level of infra that essentially doubles/triples the amount of income you make with the same land. Solution?

1) start hoarding land/planets and become neurotically addicted to this game (not too bad of an option, but not really a feasible solution for newbies)

2) get as much money/allie as possible and UW your empire for UW rewards (also a decent option, but no way accessible for newbies)

3) quit the game, because you will never be able to contest with the vets.

4) start clicking away on infra and in an effort to get close to the levels that the vets are at. (might as well pick option 3) and quit the game)
D Deiloche
Definitely against reducing planet size... would sorta screw the concept of gordoing, which would decrease an income stream from the game, if nothing else.

Reducing infra research... now that I like. The problem is, how much you take away would have to be server specific.
U UberPansy
Welcome to SFGC forums, Antares.
*wink wink*

How is taking away infrastructure remotely fair? I was a newcomer once. I put many weeks, months even, of concentrating on research before I bothered with all the extra stuff. Why should I and everyone who put in that time be punished? Same goes for planets. I put work into those, and I make sure to keep them safe. That all reads as, "You put a lot of time into this game, and now we`re going to screw you over because keeping new people is more important than showing you any respect."
D Deiloche
That`s all it takes, uber.
U UberPansy
I think you overestimate your impact on the server, my concern is that the UW`s have created an extreme shortage situation with no quick fix. I don`t expect one or two mineral empires to be responsible for resupplying an entire server.
N nedflanders
uber: considering that a tax viral, agri terran and a CG miner with negligible mineral production just blew up their empires, which required hoarding minerals to do so...common sense would indicate that the mineral market will stabilize on normal. Assuming production levels don`t change as a result of these UWs. I think I tried to explain some of this this in my PMs to you before I was setting my UW off as rationale that these UWs would cure the mineral markets :P
U UberPansy
Goods Price Supply
Food 18 30,000,000
Ore 10,000 15,435
Raw Material 1 312,776,250
Consumer Goods
Terran Metal
Red Crystal
White Crystal
Rutile
Composite
Strafez Organism

when exactly can we call it a bad shortage, maybe after Fuzzy`s UW? :P
D Deiloche
Agreed. Comm empires have the most negligible impact on the market. That`s why I don`t like comm existing as an income. But I suppose that is irrelevant. :P
N nedflanders
don`t have to be too defensive uber, just pointing out that normal has a really weird economy....mostly made up of comm terrans :P. Then again, the mineral shortage can`t be that bad since I was able to purchase enough minerals to build a nice UW fleet, so I guess time will tell how things will turn out for normal.
E ear614
I like that idea 5k of mineral. Lets hope this works and maybe it become a little more
U UberPansy
Well we never used to have any problems, ned. Since when was it wrong to be on the purchaser`s side of the economy anyway? It`s obvious that there`s an imbalance, but fat Terran comm empires are just a fraction of the problem. Comm empires actually have the most negligible impact on the market, so check your facts.
N nedflanders
haha, all you commercial terrans just eat eat eat and never give anything back to the market :P Only 1 aminer with the sort of infra/planets one of you have could single handedly supply the market...normal has way too many old comm terran empires, lol.
