This offer is nolonger available as it takes too long for the admins and I believe neither of us have the time to do it.

One of the big problems plaguing GC is a lack of new players. The first step to curing this is to ensure that the players we get continue to play.

As such for the time being all new empires on RT (Whether by restarting or new sign ups) will recieve 5k of each mineral.

As this is being run by me by hand to recieve your minerals you must PM an admin -- Preferably me!

Also as an added bonus if you introduce someone with your slave empire link you will also recieve 5k of each mineral when they request it.

For turnbased players --
Depending on how well this works I will extend it to cover the turn based servers.

well Moeridian... please forgive me incase i`ll attack you when you`re out of NP in TB servers especially when you`re not online... get out of NP or DP only when you`re ready... ;)
M Moeridian
newbie here-

I read the entire thread -

I`m currently at level 32 commercial because so much from the manual directed me that way. Seems to me if it`s not good advice, then we are being misled and something should be done to correct that.

A little fearful about poking my head out of Newby Protection for the first time and wish I had a friendly way to get some real battle experience. It seems to me that 5k pr is maybe not enough protection for a beginner-to gain a few planets and still be able to at least start building a fleet before you go over.

Maybe 15k Newby protection would be better.

R Rei

How many players are on each server anyway?
I have an account on normal and I have numbered 97 names.
Q qwerty360OP
Alex1921, that would just magnify the problem of old empires having a massive advantage over newer players due to infra research...

On UC the massive incomes from high level infra research tends to fund vassals etc which is usually newer players (the older ones arnt interested because they have way to much anyway...

Arguably what aught to be done is we should have another server with high turn count which is reset (everyone restarted) every few months (or when a UW is completed) for proper competitive play, while keeping the existing servers for long term play...

That is the only solution I can see that would be acceptable to everyone (other than possibly stephen)...

maybe not on restart but maybe once a month an admin could redistribute the infra lvls so people arent restaring everyday goin hey change these lvls it gives them a month to see the income theyve picked if they restart in that time oh well there gpone ya now O.O or restart in general >.> see? O.o it could some diffrent flavor to the game tyring ne wincomes every so often like with tax virals when food price is terrible switch it to comm for now wont be as good but hey its either that or VM due to no food O.o ????? maybe ??????
U UberPansy
Alex1921- maybe not a restart but a one time chance to redistribute research could be nice. Ned- I`m just giving the other side. If everyone goes ag that will just bring all the ag empires` income down.

keeping infra is lame. this is NOT uc...go to uc.gamestotal.com if you want such thing.
A Alex1921
Restarting and keeping the level of infra would be nice. And of course you should be able to redistribute them before the new empire is born as you wish. All errors on placing infra levels would be easily repaired. The newbies would have a second chance instead of giving up.

Uber: please don`t try to convince the newbies to go commerce :P. Okay, go commerce on rt if you really want. but please don`t go commerce on TB servers, that`ll just make ppl quit when they realize their incomes suck haha :P

EXAMPLE:

My 700+ day commerce terran has something like 8 times the land of my 3 week old tax miner on normal. And guess what? We make like almost the same amount of money, lol.
BadWolf
seeing as the discussion is mainly regarding UW rewards.. why not discuss it in that thread?

Umm Qwert i think should a section for UW so peolpe get back to topic on this thread
U UberPansy
With comm you gain independence from a lot of the market hassle. You don`t really need goods, and only a small amount of food. And no need to wait around trying to sell off Food, or seeing your post get undercut by a cheaper one.

DarthPudu: what server are you playing on?

you don`t need 200+ infra to fight. Oftentimes, good planets matter more for newer players. and yeah. Commercial = fail. pretty much all the other income types make tons more money than commercial. If you enjoy playing terran, i would recommend being a farmer and grow some stuff.

1-33 infra = not many turns
33 - 101 infra = 750 turns each lvl
101 - 255 infra = 2500 turns each lvl

i totally agree with DarthPudu once your on your own you get killed and destroyed also the dp once it weirs of your in for another attack

I will sound off again, since everyone else seems to be pretty experienced, and this thread is supposed to be about keeping guys like me around (newbies). As far as I can tell, if the consensus seems to be that UW is a big problem, work a solution so that it affects the established empires as much as the new empires, or make it be as insignificant to the newbies as it is to the guys who have been playing a while. This is assuming that you think that is what is driving people away. I have a feeling though, that it is more likely the insane amount of time it takes to research up to a level where you have the staying power to survive three or four attacks consecutively without having to reboot your empire. I am currently in newb protection, and researching all the way to max because I am tired of running out of funds because the wolves attack the second I get out of protection. By the time I recover from the first attack, I am out of turns, and dp wears off. The next guy attacks, and I get built back up just in time to lose three more planets. The guide is inacurate in my estimation. Should have 200+ commercial before you come out of DP, with lots of minerals built up so you can afford to defend the planets you have, while you expand into more plants. However you want to address that should probably be the next debate. Personally, I would love to know just how many turns it takes to get to 255 total infrastructure. That way I can figure out if I want to keep plugging at it so hard.

As a final note. I might be more inclined to spend the time to get those levels of infrastructure built up if there was a GOOD iPhone app that made it easy to manage my empire from my phone. The website is decent, but everything is too small on the iPhone to manage without it becoming a hassle. A serious, dedicated mobile phone site or application would do a lot for this game, especially if some of the kinks get worked out.

BadWolf, because people think that using the UW (by making it more powerful) to screw over vets will help newcomers.
