turn based servers dying out

Jus thought id take the oportunity to say that theres something seriously wrong with GC especially on the TB servers
There is such a lack of people on these servers these days that UW`s are becoming too easy for players who attempt them, the resulting massive punishments of 90% resourse loss on every other empire is resulting in apathy. I`d like to point out that the new reward of a masive planet and a ship from another race for the winner on top of punishin all other empires with the 90% losses is in danger of Killing off Slow server completely
I dont see this being a particually slow process that has some time to go most of the process time has occured its about to die as we speak. id describe as being in Intensive Care waiting for the plug to be unplugged. The signs are that Normal is soon to be going the same way repeated UWs by a fed. people get fed up its too easy to do a UW on top of that they get angry that there are massive rewards which leads to the oposition thinking why bother and quitting. This makes it easier still to do a UW for the "Winners" repeat....repeat, server death!
Some will say this is a war game so what if we are winning its natural to happen. True thats a very good point but winning shouldnt make the game unplayable for others therefore without some sort of action the "winning people" will be the only people left playing and even the winners will get board of winning against no oposition sooner or later leading to game death

Something needs to be done NOW before it is too late, which it may already be for slow..

Things that might help,
1 Reduced/No prizes for doing UW, name on UW list should be enough, planets and ships are by far too much to give away on Turnbased. By all means keep them on RT i dont give a monkeys about RT

2 revert to the old 90% losses system where only random minerals etc are effected by the 90% loss. Again only TB servers.

Thoughts?Do other people feel this way. can u see the Slow servers dying or is it just me?

I could not agree more Euthenasia. As you pointed out, the winners are in fact losing in the long run, because they are losing opposition, they are losing a well balanced game to play and enjoy. So really nobody is a winner in this situation.

Pete, I somewhat I agree with you, guards are a little overpowered on turnbased, however not entirely. As the one major restriction for guards is income, which effects them even more so on turn based. So yeah after months of saving up cash, the guards can rule the server for a week, but they cannot keep up constantly with the amount of income of the miners and terrans, in particular. So all in all I think it evens out.

Squaks, from what I have heard a black market would help on normal, however it is only a temporary solution I think and doesn`t get the the root of the problem.

Islander, UW`s should definitely be longer on the slower servers. I don`t see why this would even be up for debate.

That was the case a slight bit with Maraudian, he didn`t like the TB very much :P

Sounds like exactly what I`ve been saying for 2 years now Euth, I 100% agree. Hey Dm, Deil, self proclaimed `uw kings`, take a look at this :P By all means keep beating the dead horse and think your `winning`.

The only half active turn based server at this point is fast, where both the resistance and the top fed have been at it for a long time, each side having built up empires capable of combat.
Things change slowly on normal and slow due to the increased time it take to build up.

One suggestion I rather like is to make UW length based on server speed. Slow taking a much longer time to defend the UW than say ultra or RT.

Yep i agree Euthanasia. One very obvious example is the guardian race. It may fit well into RT now, but it is just too good at TB servers due to its high quality ships, with high BR.

I think the main reason these servers are suffering is because all the changes that seem to be brought in seem to be targetting game play for enhancement of the RT server, 9 times out of 10 an inadequate amount of consideration and thought has been put in with regards to turnbased before implimentation, especially with things that once done are irreverseable.

The black market for minerals would defo help i agree.

StarSeeker i presume your comment was aimed at L337 as you know very well im no newbie to turnbased.
S Squaks
i`d say setup a blackmarket with the mins at around 1.1k each for tb because we can fight the UWs however we don`t have the mins especially on normal, DMs UW went unchallenged because the market was bare
S StarSeeker
Everything is slower on these servers. You can`t come at them with RT expectations of being battle ready in a few days.
L L337
This is something I noticed awhile ago... I created em[ires on both these servers (under different names of course) in an effort to try to even things out. However I`ve come to realize that even if 30 new people joined slow and normal, and all of them joined the resistancek, it would still take 5-6 months before things would regain any semblance of balance. And unfortunately at the current rate by then those servers will be beyond repair. :(

yes something needs to be done, putting the 2000 cost minerals on the market on normal would be a start.
And I agree that the prize should be different on the turn based servers.

Maybee longer than 48 hours to do an UW to reflect the slower nature of the servers.
