I assume you`re referring to rugby? Dunno if rugby has offsides, but north american football does so you cannot be talking about that.

Hockey and Soccer both frustrate me. Come on! let`s see some fast breaks and hail mary passes.Icing penalties and offsides???... Who came up with those rules...

You are right Deil, I did not follow the tournament as closely as I should have. Missed most of it while playing in the waters of the USVI`s.

I take it that you weren`t actually following the tournament then, Spuds, since they most certainly did NOT have the same record. Canada played one more game than the US. US was 5-0-0-1, Canada was 4-1-2-0. If you want to look at it pointwise, the US finished with 15 points, Canada with 16.

The full record isn`t what mattered, anyways. The preliminary games were for seeding purposes. In actual fact, the US was 1-0-0-1 in games that counted, Canada 2-0-1-0 in games that counted.

Not happy with the fact USA had to beat Canada twice for the gold, Canada gets gold with one loss and one win against USA. Both teams have same record w/l. would like to see a shootout after Canada`s win for a tie-breaker.

Economy here in the US has been too jacked for everyone to be focusing on their sports aha when they gotta worry how their family is going to eat

Well, frankly the ref almost screwed Canada there, since we had possession of it. Only excellent work of said Canadian forwards regained the puck, though it did indeed end up working out well.

I agree that it was an excellent game. I was of course (being in America) disappointed with how the last goal happened, but it was some rather great work on the part of the Canadian forwards, picking the puck up after it bounced off the ref.

Heh. Anybody who debates over which team was strictly better doesn`t know hockey. The US wasn`t expected to medal, but they had some superb coaching and the best goaltending in the tournament, hands down. Ryan Miller won MVP of the tournament, but he deserved the entire lot of silver medals awarded to the US. They won a medal on his back, let alone having a shot at gold.

Myself, I was (secretly, given I had friends over) quite pleased to see the game go to overtime. It was the gold medal game, and I was expecting some serious competition. I got what I wanted, that was a hell of a game and the US put up a good fight, considering how overmatched they were in terms of raw skill.

Congrats to the US for winning the olympic gold count. Though the fact that they led by as many medals as they did and still fell to third place in gold is pretty unfortunate and should be bitterly disappointing for them. Canada had a lot of bad performances early on, but our athletes absolutely stole the show in the second half.

Congratulations to all the athletes who competed, though. It was a very competitive and fun-to-watch games.

Yeah I saw the game and it was very good. The USA team played their hearts out but in my opinion the Canada team was just better. You could just see how much faster and coordinated they were at times. Congrats to them.

debateable about the always will be Squaks... But for now we can allow ourselves to stroke our egos with all our medals.... :D.
