in all game aspects lol....thats gonna take a long time, thou most of them will just be G.A.B. in some order. What made MK in the first place had alot to do with pure determination thou, no denying that, i had to stay awake all the 48 hours of my uw as i was hitting people for borders throughout it, and was my own most active defender ( i had battles from 50 k pr to 40 mil), and the determination from the rest of the crew was awesome too, quite a few was on for around 35 hours, and alot for 24.

It was a different game back then thou, the player base on slow as bigger than the one on rt today for example.

Today activity mean more than it used to, as if you don`t log on no one will hold ranks, as there is only a few to do so. But yes all in all teamplay and skill is the two most important factors, determination, activity etc... is needed too of course... But a tad pointless trying to rank all this....Anyway is this where i say congrats fuzzy? oh and ned too :P

Yeah. Arti xs. :P That`s the biggest advantage for people against MK. :P We don`t really have arti xs. :P Makes a big difference, though on ultra and RT you can arti x without devoting your empire to it.

Flanders & Diel, good point. I was assuming Ultra but didn`t say so. (Although I dont mind/dont want to discourage a general discussion)

I`m afraid you`re missing what makes MK so good. Using that list implies that we should be getting beat down. Unless "pure determination" also includes coordinated teamwork? If so, then it`s the most important factor of success. From there it depends on server. E is irrelevant on non ultra/RT servers, and even then not that relevant on ultra. G is very useful on an individual level but it doesn`t much help the team without teamwork. D is nice but almost completely irrelevant. B is important, but something interesting to note: MK players aren`t really that active. We have gotten a little more active lately and that`s why for a while we were in control of RT. We`re back to our usual relative inactivity so CC is crushin` us again there. Lets see, veteran experience... certainly plenty of that in MK. Though MK players will often "do as they are told" for the best of the team.

Straight up, there it is. Teamwork. Do we WANT to be dominating like this? Not complaining about it, and as long as we dominate a server we`ll continue to do things that prove it. Not TO prove it, but because there`s no competition and what else do we have to do? We`d rather some stiff competition. RT is getting fun.

Feanor: If you really want to get precise, these factors highly depend on which servers you play on.

Infernal & all, a response to your "pure determination" post.

I want to poll you and all our readers. Everyone, please place the following play factors in a list by order of importance to game success in all game aspects:

A: Veteran Experience
B: Active Fed Mates and Allies
C: Pure Determination, i.e. a stated resolve to win
D: Availablility of mods and subprograms like Anfits` Mods, etc.
E: Time to devote to using all available turns
F: Player Race & available ships
G: Raw Player Skill, i.e. ability to think quickly, calculate, remember trends, etc.

Now, I believe that although a combination of factors is required for success, one of these seven factors happens to trump the other six, and I don`t believe that overriding factor is "pure determination"

You sound like alot of American CEOs when their stock price goes up, who stand up at a shareholders meeting and cite "pure determination" as the factor that made them successful :P

I will post my answers a bit later, but I offer you a chance first to criticize my factors or add to them.

I would be more inclined to believe that the old guard simply quit, out of boredom, and further that the only reason there are powerful feds is because they are the only groups of active players left. It is easy to speak from a high pedastal and educate the downtrodden masses, but the true leaders are those who starting with nothing inspire those around them. All I see left are a few old players howling into the wind.

im sorry but i think youve mistaken caring for the game with molly cuddling players. was never an issue in the past as it was pure determination that gets people where they want to be. if you say its bad for the player base, no it wasnt.

not happy about something, then DO something to change it. Slow, Fast and Ultra to my memory were not dominated by the feds currently dominating. what changed? we(they) wanted something, they made plans to go get it. and then execute. do you think M | K got where we wanted to be on Slow by luck? massive amount of planning and effort was taken.

bottom line, dont whine and expect the system to change, because it probably never will. you have the capability to take things into your own hands and do something about it.
