The good, the bad or the ugly adminss or as of now no admins, the updates or no updates, the small bugs or "gamebreaking" bugs.

All of this don`t matter much!

The fact is that the game is exactly the same as it was when it was created. It is a functional game with no real meaning unless we create one ourselves. Looking at a high number on a text based planet is not why you play gc
(except maybe Valja and a few others).

This is a war game and what we lack now in comparison to the old days (03-06 maybe start 07) is intence wars and original player input. Feds who wish to stick it to another fed, and the third fed coming from the bottom wanting to stick it to both of em.

Good wars in this game have ALWAYS originated in good fed concepts, player interactivity and people who had an idea about what kind of team they wanted to create or at least join, leading to epic battles such as Thunderdogs vrs Distemper. Defiance of the Void vrs Executioners of Eden. UFP vrs Lysander Clone Attac, etc.
But that is just the major feds, also the funny or twisted inputs from small feds, such as the theme fed Don`t Panic or my own The Mad Hatters is what have made this game enjoyable and something more than just numbers on a black screen with turquoise writing.

The problem with this game have never been Stephen, Lothor, Maraudian, or the fact that you can only build 999 infra at a time(legit). The problem is that our playerbase is no longer made up of quaint, gronoria, Karolinierna, TBK, Apollo, Anfit, Zardoz, Zaphod, Cascones, UberPansy, DraconianParadice, Wingnut.......

This game could be just as good as it have always been if You who still play it just did something more than just click. When you create a fed you don`t call if Diciple of the Void for example. Ok maybe if you had an agenda to kill Defiance of the Void, but Diciple of the Void a sister fed to the original DotV?????? Do you know what defiance mean, do you know what diciple mean? Think, Be creative, Thank you.

Slow and Ultra both have some fun stuff going on right now. *Death to M|K!
C Conquers
slow server still has some good wars going on.

But since it is "slow" server, they take longer than others
R RipVanWingnut
lol, i just wrote a big long thing and then decided screw it. i just agree.

I know ultra is fun right now because everyone is fighting eachother. I have always thought NAPs suck. I also think crazy newbs running rampent are entertaining. Seems to me most people are NAPed and there are very few newbs.

Yeah, these days I don`t buy out the minerals, I sell them, I`m focusing more on the food market, and making that profitable for new empires selling food :)

Oh, and I hated people joining my feds and taking them from me, I didn`t have anything to do with wars, they were just greedy or a-holes who got off destroying feds.

This post is very nice... I still remember my early days of spacefed back and forth between 4 race UC and 6 race GC (I think I was here for 4 race gc too but I`m not really sure)... I`ve begun liking GC more and more over the last few weeks and now that I`ve started up on TB as well as RT I think I`m here to stay :). I`ll be back out of newbie protection on RT soon enough to wreak some more mindless havoc XD. Yeah the problem of people just buying out the minerals market is a HUGE turnoff for people, even though the only races that actually require minerals to start are vet races (collective and viral lol) - I remember just how difficult it was for me to get myself off the floor as a collective, having no positive income and not making enough food to really be worth anything. The food market being totally dead on RT is also a turnoff for people, as it basically takes away an entire tech route (unfortunately that is my tech route that I`m close to maxing infra in...) and a very easy and very popular one at that. Need more taxers to counteract that lol...

I do miss fed wars, but as I`ve been fedless eternally over here I`m sure it means very much less to me than what it does to you guys that have been with your fed for a long time. I`ll be around for a while, with me and my totally mindless stacks that probably should not win XD. Glad to be here :).

I have to agree with Loof, although I think there are two problems.

1. Lack of fed wars between the big powerful feds etc
2. Lack of new players coming and STAYING

The biggest cause of number 2 is lack of minerals, caused by a few players who buy out everything in the market for no good reason. It should be fixed by limiting mineral amounts to something like 10 - 20 million (easily enough for battling, though it may affect miners...).

TBH the player list you made could probably be extended to fill a couple of forum posts easily enough...

From what I have seen turn based is still a lot more competitive and doesnt have the same problems as rt...

wars used to be something meaningful, there used to be some nice hatred running rampant amok the game, but some people just could afford to play any more or got mad and quit and then there are those who quit because they whine about not enough people making there even less people. of course lovely large wars would be nice, and after christmas i just might incite some if none are going on.

some someone should start working on a war and schedule me in a little later...on rt that is, TB doesn`t interest me that much
R Ragnarok
No kidding DM. I dunno how GameAsst is, but with Mara and others gone the bots are bound to last longer or indefinitely than before.

Also, I was around when fed elections were still around, and I still remember when I worried about spies threatening to potentially take over and disband the fed. But when that was taken away, I`m pretty sure the alot of the appeal of the game went away with it. =/
A AGM94
Couldnt agree more with loof on this, although the game does miss the fed election side with a way to proper destroy a fed in a war.

What made this worth playing was the activity during which were fought hard on both sides and fed wars and at its best just fighting for the ranks knowing that there would always be people coming in and out of dp
R Ragnarok
The reason i dont play RT anymore is because all you need to really be uber is spend countless hours on it that I no longer have, 90% on research or digging.
G Gronoria
Good point Loof. I agree with you that we miss certain extra dimensions some players were able to bring to the game.

NUMBER 1 REASON i dont play RT anymore really,

Its all about the world we live in, RT no longer appealing, alot of what loof said, but mostly its the battle play that bugs the crab out of me. + Politics are better on the slower servers now in days, mostly vets, not many newbies. Another attraction to slow servers is the limited turns restrict researching & combat ablity making the combat there more attractive as well compared to RT. So ya like VALJA ill probably be playing this game forever, but will remain on the slower servers more than anything.

what SFGC needs actually a team of full time dedicated staff that aren`t doing "pro-bono" works...

but that will need Stephen to pay them to helm round the clock SFGC perhaps thru shifts...

but at the same time, how on earth Stephen needs to get income to hire dedicated staff...

but IF Stephen CAN get dedicated "pro-bono" staff that "listen" to him, it might work...

but it`s hard to find such thing...

but again, IF there are some dedicated staff that willing to do Stephen`s dirty jobs...

- why not 48 hrs DeathMatch every weekend
- a new SFGC that will cater all type of players
- promotions that will bring income to Stephen
- attractive rewards for players to stay longer
- rewards / incentives for players to fight more
- environment that will make new players comfortable to start with
- perhaps Guides are given PAID accounts as incentive for their times
- accept the fact that SFGC must "evolve" and not to be nostalgic about old times
- "options" that balance the new and old players
- introduces RL commerce among players apart frm "gordos for paid"
- bla... bla... bla...
- etc... etc...

i can add on the whole list BUT will it`s going to happen?

actually there`s a lot can be done to improve SFGC... BUT where to start first?

IF Stephen still believe in SFGC, he MUST do something...

IF we still believe in SFGC, we MUST have faith...

IF we`re not happy with Stephen, we still have a choice to stay OR move on...

it`s all about IFs and BUTs now... so what are our takes eh?
D DrunkenMasters
I agree with Loof. We also miss the deathmatches making me wake up at 3 am and stay up for 4 hours...

There was quite a bit of that colouring in the chat, wasn`t there AccordEX? lol

While I was never involved in the epic wars of the past, they certainly made things interesting on the chat, the great flame wars :P
V VALJA
lol@Loof... :P
A AccordEX
This was a interesting piece to read, its always fun to catch up on old people that are not around, like TBK haven`t heard from him in ages. I miss his epic pyth spamming, and i also miss all the pee color in the GC chat we had years ago.
