*cries.... It was fun guys... it really was.
I`ve enjoyed playing this game for a little over 3 years,
And I will continue playing for a little while...
I want to be here at the end.
I don`t know why.
When the ticker says 1 user online.
Why?
If you ask me why I won`t be able to give you a straight answer,
Because I don`t know.
Why?
Maybe it`s because I somehow believe that it won`t happen unless I see it,
Like a child hiding under his covers.
Or maybe it`s that elusive dream that somehow GC will revive,
And will once again be as busy and active as it was the first day I played.
There are 70 users online!
Thats not so bad...
Much better then it has been recently.
Perhaps it is reviving now.
I still feel hopeful.
Or perhaps it`s the selfish craving to be the emperor,
In a game devoid of players.
Like a scene from Oryx and Crake.
Nostalgia, Hope, Denial, Curiosity, Melancholy, Obstinance.
I suspect the answer to my question lies somewhere amongst those words,
Those emotions.
So goodbye to all that are leaving!
I wish I had made the time to talk to everyone,
To get to know every active player (a task that gets easier every day...)
To learn about who they are outside the game.
To connect.
To those who are leaving especially,
My name is Zeb Armstrong,
Look me up on Facebook and add me as a friend,
Send me a message and your empire name.
And maybe we will find some other common interests.
To my fedmates,
I hope you choose to join me,
And endure.
Endure.
After all, that is what we do best.
For the past 2 years Federations have risen and fallen.
ChronicConquest, Distemper, Rabies, and many many others.
But TheDestroyers has remained consistent.
Always third, or fourth, or fifth.
But rarely lower.
Wary of events and conflict,
We are often overlooked by the more dynamic Feds,
Regardless, I hope that you all decide to stay with me,
And continue that legacy,
However meager it may seem to others.
