let it be a statement on why enslavement`s 10x rule is no longer applicable nowadays...

at the moment... 12:18 AM 12 Sep 2009...

DarkRavenTNM`s PR is at 10,628,029... i need to break free at least above 106,280,290 PR...

45 Scorpions only will give 3,323,370 additional PR every 6 mins... so how long i need to waste my time to declare independant?

by the time i can reach 100 mill PR... at what PR DarkRavenTNM is eh?

DarkRavenTNM`s PR is at 11,366,046... i guess i need to go above 112,000,000 PR now...

i`m going to send email to Stephen a copy of this thread regardless he`s doing something or not to show how i feel the enslavement issue as a PAID member of SFGC...

IF anyone`s thinking he won`t answer, the last time i mentioned about enslavement to him, he replied he might looking into it... perhaps it`s time to remind again...

DarkRavenTNM`s PR is at 13,026,546... oh boy, i need to be above 130,265,460 of PR to break free...

still think 10x rule is still applicable eh?

he might not looking for the problems in the forum... but i raised the issue in the forum for others to understand and whoever that might be have direct contact to Stephen will relay to him... even it might be hopeless... no harm is putting a hope into something... :)

Well , Ste doesn`t go put putting around the forums looking for problems. He`s like the silent god many people pray to, getting his attention is in of itself a bloody miracle. the guides have issues getting his attention as well.

and when i raised this issue nowadays, i actually couldn`t be bothered the enslavement issue as much as b4 coz i know my capability on surviving any enslavement... i`m grateful for some of the players who offered to help me during those time... even though i`ve to decline some of the helps due to the risk of battle arranging... but still, i`m thankful to some of you out there who understand the issue that i`ve brought up...

i`ve tried a lot of ways to settle it on my own accord... -ve income, MDs, breaking free (though i hate to waste my time for hours nowadays) and even juicy planets event... but when i think back, how about other players that are still new to this game... they might not be like Makavelic, they might just quit...

there might be more issues in hands that need to be solved... but i just hope one day, this enslavement issue would be looked upon and something could be done about it...

as for me, even i don`t like to attack others... i still do enjoy the fighting element in SFGC... especially when i try to win by defending my empire... i do try to learn what are the ships for sometime to be on top of the stacks and see what kind of ships the attackers will send... regardless of spamming or proper stacks attack, i still believe that most of the winnings that i got so far are purely luck... coz i can`t predict who`s going to attack me next...

BUT...

i really hate to waste my time to build up my PR just for the sake to break free frm enslavement due to the "10x rule"... even for hours i can build up my PR, i might still be enslaved when i reached at certain PR... and how the heck i`m suppose to break free when my enslaver is above 120 million PR?

due to that, i do hate to go out of DP often... i don`t mind fight defensively and lose planets and go out of DP again and again and again but when i`m being enslaved, i`ll waste my time to break free... IF i have a choice, definately i will stay in NP just dig all the time... i`m not interested in VM coz at least in NP, i still can play... :)

Raistilin... i`m not blaming the guides or staff or complaining that they didn`t or don`t do anything... when i`m bringing this issue up, i hope sooner or later, Stephen will take notice and do something as for other things that are need to be taken care of for all this while...

when someone bring this issue up, the staff or guides should take notice and inform Stephen about it... coz by right, they should have the meeting together and they can`t be purely prejudice coz i`ve stated the fact where the problem lies and what kind of solution/s that might solve it...

when it comes to coding, of course Stephen will have to look into it since he`s not giving up all 100% of the codes frm what i`ve heard...

even though i`m not purely into battle element of this game, i DO appreciate for the work that have been done by the guides and staff... BUT SFGC is not solely just a pure attack and defense game... it`s a strategy of management of an empire b4 it can go to war...

some of us do attracted to this game frm another angle... this game could go farther when it can attract all types of players... not solely build ships and go to war... stop comparing UC and GC... we`re talking about GC now...

IF there are thing that can be implemented to make this game more interesting and some of the ideas are frm another games, i don`t see the why we can`t do it... heck, we might take those players frm another games to SFGC coz they don`t need to learn much and can feel at home after playing SFGC...

i`m still wondering why Stephen still don`t want to take the big step and make this game better and attract more players and make SFGC an income generator to him... there`s a lot he can do... he can`t depend on the less than 100 odd loyal players who are still here... and not all the players are even on paid... what is he waiting for?

Enslavement issue would be a coding issue. Methink that the guides who have been putting forth effort to help with new ideas should be given some slack. it`s not their fault, it`s like having a choice of running uphill in a mudslide trying to get to the top ( ship design/events ) or running downhill into a granite wall ( trying to change things requiring stephen to do them).

so in another words, "enslavement" issue can ONLY be done something by Stephen?

300 clicks voyage will be the last option... IF he still can reply my email, at least i can save the fuel and toll money... ;)

pity... he should move his office to KL... he can easily find a lot of ppl to help or work with him in KL... at least it would be 30 clicks travel rather than 300 for me... lol...

Oh c`mon VALJA what is 300 clicks to you? ;)

"We" refers to the staff doing the updates. One of them being me. At least I was until I stopped caring much for GC. :P

And I am doing something to fix the game.

"We" as included as with Stephen or excluding Stephen? :)

IF you say ONLY Stephen can do something about it, IF it`s necessary i can pay a courtesy visit at his office physically to suggest to him personally... but i have to travel at least 300 clicks to do that... lol...

Do you understand? I did NOT at ANY POINT imply the ship updates are more important than fixing the system. Slavery is simply one of the LEAST important things we need to fix that we cannot fix without Stephen doing it.

This is an issue should be a higher priority than ship fixes... since returning in *I think* August I have watched around 10 new empires become inactive shortly after being enslaved... Even before that it was one of the things I noticed . Alot of the time its because they get enslaved and, since they are Newbs, have no idea what to do.

It does need fixed but to keep the new players that are scared away by this its an easy fix. Make a little guide book for them that simply covers enslavement and suggestions on how to deal with it and put it somewhere a newb would look when they get enslaved. In other words make it really OBVIOUS. Knowing your all`s love for big red or yellow banners that part should be easy.

How about 10X pr if your masters pr is up to 1,000,000 and the 8X while over 5X if over 80,000,000 etc. with the final alteration being 0.2X if over 800,000,000 while Master PR is < 1,000,001 and then just cap it at 1.2 Bil release.

I also liked the attacking Master option. Allow slaves to attack their Master using the Enslave option but if they win they are free. Optimally I would rather they make a new attack option called rebel and make the Slaves attack from +115 Pr thus making it harder.

again... incase you didn`t notice the obvious flaw of "10x rule", let me point it back to you... "10x rule" is no longer valid when an enslaver is above 120 million PR coz the PR limit for SFGC is 1.2 billion... so just imagine an enslaver is having 200 million PR... how the heck for a capable slave to break free when he or she can`t pass by the max limit of 1.2 billion PR?

that is my main argument why the "10x rule" should be amended... it`s practically impossible to break free in this situation...

perhaps other players in different server as RT won`t face such prob due for whatever reasons you all can have but for players in RT, even we are capable of breaking free on our own, it`s not fair for us who will try to break free for hours or days but just a slight increment of enslaver`s PR, we have to waste more time to break free... perhaps it`s fun to you as an enslaver but do you think the slaves are having the ball too?

you can say some of your slaves might be happy with you as their enslavers but how about the rebelious one? do you have any so far? IF you`re don`t have any so far, i guess you`re lucky... but let me remind you that there are others who might not having the same sentiment as yours... hence this thread is created...

IF the slaves can be considered as your extra income, how about slaves that stays in -ve income and won`t give you any tribute at all... how much you punish them, they will never ever succumb to your enslavement and couldn`t be bothered to your reinforcement BUT why still want to keep them? just for the sake of having them in the list of players that are being enslaved to your empire?

the main question now, why you still want to keep such slave/s? the "feeling good" factor coz you`re the master? come on, in real life, you keep an asset but let go the liability...

i can move on more... but at the end, you all supporters of enslavement will still ignore the problem with "10x rule"... sigh...

Makavelic... i`m happy that you`re enjoying being an enslaver for the reasons you have stated... IF i have the same sentiment as yours, definately i couldn`t be bothered for the issue in the first place...

as you have stated, this game not only cater for one type of group and definately it`s no easy to pacify all of us at one time... but most of us will have the bad connotation of enslavement and IF they can`t accept it, this game won`t be their next of choice to play on... as for me, i can just leave IF i no longer can accept enslavement BUT i`ve been hooked to SFGC for the past 5 years just to let it go... IF i`m just a 1 day n0_0b and trying this game for the heck of it... being enslaved will definately push me away... i`m glad you`re not that type Makavelic... but who knows how many interested new players have gone away due to this reason...

please don`t put jail or prison as the same level as enslavement... what have some of us done wrong to be enslaved in the first place? and incase you forgot the new suggestion on alternative to break free i`ve stated below, don`t you feel of having more excitement when your slaves will rebel against you? perhaps it will make more challenging for you to maintain your slaves...

i won`t argue for your support of enslavement BUT i`m pushing for changes that will be fair for the slaves to have alternative on ways of breaking free...

Also being an ensalver is not an easy task, we need slaves to survive in this game, others sell food, others mineral, others gets their income from comm, etc... but we basicly live from the tribute we get out of you and some have other ways too, it cost a lot to maintain our fleet because we send reinforcement to all our slaves, we need to rebuild fleet any time we get attacked or we want to attack. If i were to whine i would say i dont like people who just sit there and hit the research button 24/7 thats just boring but i dont, instead of that i enslave them so whenever they get rich i get a portion, also it feels good to get "those messages" hehe.

Also whenever i enslave a new player they usually PM me telling me to set them free, what i do is to explain them the good thing about being enslaved wich is "free reinforcements" and i always share millions of my tribute to them to make things not that hard for them, when i see them on a good road i set them free, the ones i keep with me are the old targets because i know they will someone make others attack me and thats what i want.

I believe enslavement encourages players to organize in groups (making new friends) to defeat the annoying suppressor that has them enslaved, learning more about the game. And i also believe that if a new players quits just because he got enslaved from the start he should not play GC, he really was not made for this, because this is part of the game.

I really have to state this, Games are not designed for only what a "group" of players want, the fact that some people find frustrating or just dont like enslavement should not whine about it, but overcome the problem by themself, if they made enslavement easy to break free then why have the option, if criminals would be able to break free easily from jail im sure non of you will get out of your houses, and you still do, be cause thats the way it is, so i believe enslavement is good as it is.

When i joined this game from the third day i got out of protection i got enslaved, instead of quitting i decided to keep on playing and find myself how to break free, and thats where i found that i wanted to be an enslaver because of the attacking activity, i agree, it was not something i wanted from the start(be enslaved) but i just saw it has one of the challenge this exciting games brings to us and that i had to overcome, it took me a month.

Why i want to be an eslanver because if fun, because im the fighting style game player, because we the enslavers are attacked more than any other empires wich allows us to learn more about attacking and defending, because we are always targets by fed m8's that want to free their friends and very strong empires that just dont like enslavers, wich makes the game more fun for me.

yes, i agreed with dei. This game is broken and outdated and it won`t attract new blood anymore unless stephen makes some major updates. Well for valja you tried your best and fought for it even though the chances are extremely slim and we all should appreciate the spirit that you fighting for your own right. Everyone have their own view on their priority in the game: battles, income, ships etc and enslavement issue is top on va;ja priority list and is what valja sought for. Valja has his right for it. And what forum is use for? To discuss anything pros and cons in the game which include suggestion, feedback etc so we cant denies the existence of this problem.
although i know the slim chance mentioned, here my little suggestion:
stick with the 10x rule but adding more uncertainty into it. For example,
if the pr is 1x, the chance to break free is zero.
When the pr is 2x, the chance to break free might set to 20%.
and when pr is 3x, the chance rise to 30%
so, when the pr is 9x, the chance to break free is equal to 90%
of cos when the pr is 10x, you are completely free.
And assume that everyone can only try to break free once every 12 or 24 hours of course.
i know, i know, these wont happening, is just some little suggestion:P

i beg to differ... attracting new blood is an ongoing process... a true blue SFGCians who learned to love the game after few weeks will "stuck" for good... but IF he or she feels frustrated after few days of learning to "love" SFGC, we can kiss them goodbye...

We`re not going to attract new blood into GC unless Stephen changes his tune. And believe me. There are many, many other things we need to do first to attract new blood in besides doing something about enslavement. It`s a minor annoyance.
