In response: I do like my race, I wouldn`t still be playing it after all these years if I didn`t.
Maybe you could tell me a couple of ships you struggle to beat as miner (w/o hercs), I`m curious.
In regards to c3-building, a problem hanging over all this is that Normal server for sure is very inactive. It would be quite impossible to construct c3`s in this environment, especially under Common Wealth pressure! ;)
Not that I`m complaining, that`s just how it is for me right now.
A taxer with one c3 will be more or less equal to a Terran with multiple c3`s, at least on TB where research levels aren`t as high.

Uber: try playing as a miner without herc. You will find it tough to win battles against certain races :P

As for income, my slow empire has a lot of land. Terrans are C3 making machines...shouldn`t be too hard to plunder a few smaller C3s and hunt for decent planets to build another C3. If I recall correctly, terrans can build something like 5 C3s all by themselves by collecting single planets and clustering.

And ofc, tax miners have some pretty insane base PR...I think a lot of people are forgetting this fact. If you want lower base PR, you get bad income. Pretty simple and fair formula

And yes, try to play other races, try to take a cluster(or even put under pressure) against experienced and well stacking terran and then comment again please. Try fighting herc/tyr spams with guard. Try attacking a terran stack with a lot of P class with marauder going for 3 cols. Try to understand other people`s point of view before you comment like you are the only one that understands the race and your almighty opinion shouldn`t even be questioned by others.

and for that reason the game should not be balanced specifically to one person on one specific server pansy. DM has more credibility because his perspective comes from someone who has played a wide variety of races on a wide variety of servers. You seem to get all aggressive about defending your small niche, or other "underdogs". Also, sort of alarming when someone complains about being put in their place when they say something foolish. What do you want? for people to just accept whatever bizarre thing you think is right without looking out for everyones overall enjoyment?

Also as you know Slow server has been long abandoned by sane players, Think is under VM on Normal, and I frankly don`t give two plops about other servers. Each server is its own entity when it comes to game balance, comments about RT may not be relevant to specific situations on Normal for example.

Why do you feel the need to put me in my place, just because my experiences don`t match up with yours? If that`s the case we could each stand to learn something.

Because you have played only terran and miner(before the updates) and you are talking about things you don`t understand. Also, you are quite biased as a player that represents only one race. You claim that terran is inefficient at high PR and yet again on every server there is at least one terran that proves you wrong and is constantly in top5 - aacra on RT, Kaneda on ultra, Grono on fast, Think on normal, grantweep on slow...

If Thor was so bad, why do you always use it at low PR? Yes, it is not all-conquering ship at high PR, but lower it is more than useful, especially against races like marauder and collective that have pretty much nothing to stop it(besides fez). And btw thor has normal upkeep, zeus is the killer.

Uber, I have done 2 UWs as Terran and I think I know a little better than you how to set up terran economy. I have hit max cash with terran on turn based server, a feat enviable even for tax miners(I don`t think many tax miners have achieved that either). You might have played terran for ages and know how to play terran, but the decisions you have taken as young player were WRONG and your empire is suffering for an eternity now. Not my fault. Not my fault that for 2k days on normal your infra is sitting at mere 50ish levels. Not my fault that you have barely 150-160k land in 440+ planets. You built an empire in a hasty way - you suffer the consquences. That`s the reality. Oh, btw, not my fault that you are commercial either. So your remarks are pretty much out of place(As usual lately). I am not saying terrans are on par with other races, I am saying every race has something that others don`t, and terrans have plenty of good features as well. Digging, not being able to die, big col count to start with. Various ships to stack with. Yes, terran is probably not the race of choice at high PR, but they have plenty of positives too.

but Uber, if you`re spamming as a-miner to attack, you already know that the a-miner in question is either spamming Lyth or Lictor, since they don`t have too many good spammable ships either, and their ships don`t exactly build the fastest when attacking. I don`t deny that the SBs can spam fairly quickly, especially the Kyro, but again, they can`t attack others, the only time they are really a pest is when you get someone based up scouting you, for an ally to smack you down hard.

I`m not sure what you`re saying raven, again my posts are mainly in regards to the situation on turn based. Food can be a good income stream but it is totally dependent on the whim of the market. Once the `secret` gets out that Food is a good income stream on a server prices can crash, and a. miners will leave you in the dust. And as grantweep mentions Terran build rates are merely okay when compared to other races, and if you`re building quick pr you`re spamming, which can be a vulnerability.

Look in rt . I`m sure 90 percent of the food comes from Terran(aacra) and the rest from Mara and collective , thors are really good o nail down the lakko and all that , they can always outspam the ithe person with the 3 cap ships and even across the board in income what most u want! But the upkeep and cost of Terran ships rival the miners

to be fair, terrans can be as rich as miners. Take a look at what`s happening on normal.

However, in my mind...terran is not, and will almost always remain a middle PR dwelling race.

I kinda see it as: Virals/Miner/Guards (high PR races...plenty of high PR ships, and economy to back it up) ...... Terran (middle PR race...some nice cap spams, but cap ships dont build THAT fast, and half decent economy, aka newbie race lol, jack of all trades master of none), maru (middle PR race, pyth angel spams)....coll (low PR race)


but yeah, terrans get a lot of perks. The herc is the biggest single reason terran are decent. And yeah, the higher dig rates, plus 18 cols. If you are terran, you won`t be amazing most of the time, but at least you won`t get killed lol

DrunkenMasters you can deceive yourself that Terrans are on par with other races, but as a lifetime Terran player I think I know what I`m talking about. I`m afraid the general sentiment is that Terrans are the n.oob race and that we can be appeased by the knowledge that we have many colony slots; but take them out on the battlefield, especially on a turn based server, and see whether your opinion changes.
You obviously have no idea what you`re taking about when you start mentioning Thor and Zeus as our secret weapon: there is no build rate there, the upkeep is horrific, and missile shielding abounds amongst the varied races.
Terrans are as rich as miners "if played correctly"? That`s neither here nor there (and probably not true).
