how come I start losing credits from my reserve whenever I do something after I go over 5000 power and how can I get it to start increasing again?

go to your "income" and see what is costing you money
chances are it is your fleet, and your economy isnt strong enough to support that many ships for that long or that many turns
so, as terran, focus on commercial and build up your planets and do infrastructure research on commercial
and if you mess up or you start getting the hang of it after a while, you can always restart
