I just explored a planet with the letter "S" at the start instead of E, it says it is a special planet. What does that mean?

S simply means that that planet had the potential to be over 20X times bigger than the usual maximum land of the planet type (desert balanced barren etc)
so if its a really big one, keep it, and cluster it
all S class are clusterable, unless its an S. U class, which is very rare
