I keep losing in attacks! I just lost like 5 in a row and I had about 25% more PR then the two targets I kept hitting. Each time I bought new ships but it never worked! Why is this happening? I bought frigates, destroyers, fighters, and everything. It seems like I can never attack with enough ships because i`m either too weak (and lose) or too large (and am prohibited from attacking)! What types of ships should I use so I`m not too large but still don`t keep losing over and over??

ok, what you are missing is called "stacking"
stacking is loosely defined as the ability or skill a player has that describes the manipulation of stack order, types of ships, etc. involving all of those into a formulation of a stack (fleet)
Basically, it is the entire realm of strategy in this game other than economic strategy which is roughly 10 times easier, especcially with terran or aminer
to start to learn how to "stack" read the manual, read the "how battles work guide" for an understanding of how stacks (collections of the same ship) interact throughout the battle
then learn the parts of each ship... and what they mean and how they work in battle(you can get most of the info by clicking the blue text)
then make your own stack, (plan it out before hand so you dont get attacked while building) then go out and fight
fighting and learning your enemy and picking good people to attack, according to race, planets, power rating etc you should also get from "how battles work" guide
but after all that, its just earning experience by fighting and looking at the enemies stacks, and see why you won/lost
