If you build something like 200 hercules, do you pay 200 hercules` upkeep for 100 turns? The upkeep for 200 hercules is 7 million a turn (35,000 * 200), so would you be losing 7 million credits from turn 1 to turn 100?
If you started out with no income, you would lose 700 million worth of cash. If you made, say 3.5 million a turn, that would be 350 million cash loss.
If so, wouldn`t it be smarter to build the ships in smaller increments to save cash?
for example, if you build 100 hercules with the 3.5 million credits a turn, then you would make no income for 50 turns, and your only cost would be the actual cost of the ships (we`ll ignore that for now).
Then after that, you would build 100 more hercules more, which would put you in the red 3.5 million a turn for 50 turns. This would represent a total cash loss of only 175 million.
Therefore, If you make the assumption that you pay the entire ships` income from turn 1 (the upkeep cost of 200 hercules for 7 million a turn for example), then it would be smarter to build in smaller increments for the sake of saving cash in the long run.
The big question tho is whether my assumption is in fact correct. Anyone care to comment?
