i started not to long ago and have enough "stuff" to upgrade to get a ship... i think and i was wondering what do i have to buy to get a new ship?

You mean to buy the ship? You buy ships to build up your fleet, as it can also be destroyed.
When you click on a certain ship, you can build 10 ships and see the cost to build all those ships.
