please read "how battles work" guide in the manual under "useful guides" section
pm me if you are having trouble understanding the battle system
and for stacking and how it works... it is basically the manipulations of the order and selection of ships to the advantage of the person stacking, the guide i referred you to will explain the basic mechanics of the battle, and how stacks interact which is crucial to understanding "stacking"
