livid and lictor were given to miners by the gaurdians for helping them defend the universe =)

thats like saying that if virals could take and RE guardian ships, then nearly all would have k class too.

But the G livid/lichtor is in fact an Aspha ship.

Okay so you have here some aspha missions... They builds a temple and out pops some ships. hmmm they seem to be very OLD. They seem to be of guardian origin. But wait, they`re OLD. Obviously the guardians do not use them anymore. So... The Asphans take these ships and, being the primitive sort they are and having only one particularly good ship; M. Chlor, they decide that it would be in their best interests to make one mans trash into their treasure.

Apparently way back eons ago the guardians found something a tad more useful than the ancient Livid and Lichtor.

Can anyone guess? T`was the K. Hun-Li and K. Hun-Xe of course...

Guardians dug these ships out of the grave in a similar way the Asphans did... OLD SHIPS.
According to guardians, the Li was more cost effective and useful in combat than the livid and lichtor. And the livid and lichter were outdated and there are far better ships in their fleet that are not k class. So, they trashed them.
Asphans have only a handful of ships that are really worthwhile in combat. And the livid and lichtor make good additions to their fleets. Its balanced.

I dont agree with people that say Livid isnt usefull. It has is use, and such. like bw there, nice placed and the stack did his job, bw won this :)

Yeah from most people i know that are old virals they would love to have a choice of the new ships over what they picked originally.

some do sol, i like my pre-update ship list. i`m one of the few virals left who doesn`t have lyth or bull because they were complete garbage when i chose my ships, and tbh i still wouldn`t take them...i feel like a dinosaur with outdated stuff ^^ if and when you guys decide to reset ship list do at least give us some warning so i can build 5 of all my ships and vm if need be to get them back. and yeah BW with his livid is a good thing for everyone, because it`s his least used ship why give him the option to get something useful, like lyth or chlor

and replacing a virals RE;d ships would be quite simple from what i understand just old empies kick up a fuss if theyre messed with. ;-)

That, and it takes out all the fun of actually finding the ships you want to RE.

Its like saying here ya go virals. Heres some ships, now go RE whichever you want and toss the rest. Forget about actually fighting other people for them...

Let the old guys keep their heaps. If they wanted new ones or better ones, then they have the option of restarting.

You cannot reset just one ship. It`s all or nothing, and yes, losing all your RE ships could well be catastrophic to an empire. If people knew it happened and avoided giving you any ships you wanted and you were not on an explore empire, you would be the easiest target in existence. In a situation like that, you would pretty much have to cheat and battle arrange to get your ships.

Arguably, however, the admin might be able to gift 5 ships of each to the person. But here becomes the question. Since their whole shiplist is being reset, and other ships have changed since they selected their shiplist, do they get to select all new ships, or are they stuck with everything they chose from before except the ship that they are not allowed to have? That is not really fair. After all, if a change in ship classification is what is causing them to LOSE a ship, they should be able to repick every ship from scratch, no? And yet some would argue against that.

THAT is the slippery slope. The decision was made to allow empires who already possessed these ships to keep them because it was not unbalancing, rather than go to the lengthy effort of resetting shiplists and gifting empires with five of each ship that they desired to reverse engineer, especially given the debate about it.

In the big scheme of things, Badwolf with Livid isn`t going to blow up the fabric of the universe. There was a time when virals had guardian ships such as tourm and ruby. that did tear at the fabric of existence. And ultimately, i think it would take stephen actually bothering to look at something on gc for anything like that to be changed.

That makes a dangerous slippery slope towards differential treatment regarding other issues. Let`s say the community (or the admin) decided that we should change ships (or mechanics) to make them balanced e.g. tourm and ruby. And the people who got P.O`d get their original ships while the rest who accepts the update get`s the shorter stick. That just sounds wrong for me. And since you guys said it`s not that "superior", why not take a little time and amend it? It`s like saying "It`s a small bug so it doesn`t matter, even though I know it`s a bug."
My point of "superiority" was not on the ship itself. It`s the "privilege" that the old empires get.

As an a.miner, I would hardly call that ship "superior". It`s one of the least used a.miner ships I have.

And if you were an old empire that`s worked hard to get where you were, and suddenly an update came along that changed something. Would you be just a little P.O.`d if you didn`t get grandfathered in and allowed to keep you existing empire as it was?

It`s just 2 out of the 9 RE ships available, just reset those 2 wouldn`t kill the empire would it?
